Newbies first nebula!!

Ok so I could roughly make out the group of stars were I thought m42 is with the naked eye, so I lined up the scope with the lowest power Ep I have (20mm) and BANG! There it is. The most awesum thing I have ever seen, staring me straight in the face well chuffed with my first sight of the famous nebula and now I need more on my list!!!!

Stunning isnt it try a more powerful eyepiece and see the 3 central stars looks amazing.

Yea I did try a 10mm EP but typically the fluffy white beasts rolled in after a few seconds of trying to get a good focus damn things!!!! Nonetheless I still got my first proper WOW moment

Orion Nebula really is a beauty. Something i alays go back too, and if someone wants me to show them something, and its visible, its got to be M42. Did you see M43 alongside it? I think ive seen it but not 100%

Unfortunately not but then again I might have been in the right place but so focused on finding m42 I completely overlooked it! Lol

When i (think) i saw it, i couldnt see any nebula-orsity around it, just the star which i think lights it up, in my newt it was underneath M42. It matched star charts too.

heres how i saw it a few nights back m43 is the blob on neblousity slightly right of m42.

..get some dark skies and then the wow really kicks in..then you'll get App Fever..and so it begins

M42 was also the first DSO I observed when I got my first decent scope. It found it a little spooky to be honest with the dark dust clouds againt the dark background. The trapezium is quite something also.

But wait! We are trying to look at a nebula (cloud in deep space) and when a nearby cloud in our atmosphere blocks our view....something very strange is going on here...we complain about clouds blocking our view of clouds :confused:

Haha yea it's weird how we can all hate clouds in our atmosphere so much but look in amazement at a cloud that's 1500LY away!!!! Defies all non-astronomers logic!
