I did consider something like that for testing.... set it up in a room - align the scope using the planetarium - see if it targets the right stars...

Living on one of the flightpaths to the local airport I can see some pilot confusion and what would the local police helicopter make of it all???

Seriously though has anyone any experience of affordable indoor planetarium on which one can hone their star gazing skills??

Computer screens are OK as far as they go but lack that 3D immersive feel.

Given the lack of recent observing opportunities due to the atrocious weather perhaps some indoor star gazing would give a welcome "fix".

I am currently awaiting delivery of the Cambridge Photographic Star Atlas to hopefully improve my star and constellation recognition skills on these cloudy nights!!!
