Quatermass
Thats a fantastic Iris, looks really nice bet your pleased with it. This is a wonderful target you should have a go at the bubble nebula which is below it on the other side.

carastro
Many thanks for your comments every-one, yes I was quite pleased with it as I really didn't know what to expect having heard from so many people that it is very faint and a difficult target.Carole

Quatermass
I thought it was pretty easy compared to others like the crescent nebula. Sent from my GT-S5670 using Tapatalk

Gina
The problem with the Iris for me was that it was in an awkward position but I intend to have another go at it in the dim distant future when we get some clear nights and it's in a better position
Astroblagger
looks fantastic, hope to have a go at this one myself someday as i have the same equipment as yourself.
carastro
Thanks Gina and Astroblagger. I did try this from home once where I am very light polluted but it was not very good at all, so I seized this opportunity at a dark site with clear skies to grab it.Carole
Astroblagger
did you use a sw focal reducer?
carastro
No focal reducer, flattener only - just straight out of the ED120 and this is full frame.Carole
ollypenrice
That's worked well. The outer dust isn't so much hard as just long drawn out, I reckon! The tricky bit is the core. DSLRs over expose quickly on stars so maybe just a few shorts for the central star might help.Good colour balance here, too.Olly
