Christmas Present is Here - Skywatcher 10" Dobsonian!

Hi all,

Just a quick post to say that my new telescope, a Skywatcher Skyliner 250PX, is here!

Ordered from FLO and came very quickly as always. There won't be a first light report until after Christmas Day, as unfortunately this is my Christmas present, and as such I'm not allowed to use it until Christmas Day (though I did get permission to open the box as I had to 'check everything over' ). It's all been boxed back up now but I took a few photos whilst I was 'checking'.

Oh, and yes in the first picture that is my cat running across the bottom of the image.

The only thing that concerned me when I looked over it is that there's a small dent on the top rim of the tube. Looks like it could've had a whack in transit. I dread to think what the collimation is like. I presume this is nothing to be worried about?

How bad is the dent? If it's bad I'd send it back fo a replacement.

It's more of a chip than a dent. I'm not fussed as long as it doesn't affect the function of the telescope, which I presume it won't?

sorry to see it has had a bash, hope its ok, would be tempted to return it, easy for me to say...if it was sat in my lounge at the moment would find that hard to do.

Had a second look and have decided the marks aren't too bad, it's just my OCD flaring up. Unless I notice any functional problems I'll be keeping it.

Guess the best thing to do is test it out, if your happy to keep it

Now that's a BIG box!!! had a sofa delivered once in a box that size...

I wouldn't worry about the chip. Through all that styrofoam it should be just fine still.
