Iridium 75 flare

Recommended Posts

Tested out my ALT/AZ mount on my new pier for a shot at the flare from IR75.

Nikon D40 full zoom about 8 seconds exposure.

Bit noisy because the flare was a low intensity one and needed dragging out of the murk

with photoshop.

Mizar double stands out nicely to the left of the flare.

Anyway, proves the rig is set up OK as the flare was dead centre 8) :D

Good one phil...still yet to see one of these flares...Notice in Starry night that there are loads of Iridiums floating about...when and how do they produce this flare. Is it just a case of waiting till SN says there is one over head then just looking up ?

Bit more exact than that Chubs.

You only see a flare if the angle of the satellite is correct to reflect sunlight down to where

your standing.

Go on here http://www.heavens-above.com

Enter in exact location of your house and then keep an eye on the daily predictions.

The very bright ones, mag -8 are spectacular 8) :D
