Yes you read it right and that is according to no less than Mr Peter Drew.

This is the Astro Systems 6" F6 FG1 reflector of mid to late 80's vintage.

The condition belies its age and I feel this is a real find.

It is an object lesson in simplicity and quality construction and features David Hinds optics.

That is a great looking scope, and the peir - type alt/az mount looks really well made and sturdy.

Indeed, I am always interested in older gear and a trip through the Peak District was appealing to pick it up.

As a piece of UK scope production history I did not want to see it lost to the observing fraternity.

It doe not fit in with my viewing plans at the moment as I have decided to concentrate on the moon and planets and maybe solar.

The scope will get a quick once over and a clean then I would like to see how the optics compare with the Celestron and Orion 6" reflectors that I have owned.

I will then probably be moving it on to fund a larger refractor.
