Rightn now it looks really good.

The camera is attached and focused, it still looks alittle soft - think the collimation needs attention. Not going to risk that tonight.

Can't see any sign of the shadow yet., but it should be there.

I'm currently sat in my garden with the bins out waiting for first contact. I've not seen such a clear night in months! Typically it's when I dont have a mount for my OTA so I may have neck ache by the end of the night hehe. I have some great false colour on these cheap bins though! The moon is yellow on the left, blue on the right and LIME GREEN on the underside!! Great stuff

according to Starry Night 4 you should start to notice things in around 15 minutes (around 9:35).

Thats for my position (essex), this will be different for others? Not sure???

Well and truely underway!

I have slight snag, I've mislaid my 1GB CF card and card reader.

So I'm stuck with a 128MB spare card with a capacity of 33 images. Can't download the images from the card without removing the camera from scope (therefore screwing up the focus).

So not happy, but it's clear here

This is the life you know, sitting outside with the laptop. Watching an eclipse, imaging an eclipse and talking to you lot at the same time.

Not a cloud in the sky at the moment.

I started taking images at 1/2000th of a second at ISO100. (300D& 8" F5 Newt).

To try and get some of the red, I'm now at 1/13th and ISO800...

EDIT: make that 2 seconds at ISO800, gets the red and nearby stars.
