Southern Skies - Southern Cross

Got back from NZ yesterday. Processed first widefield image of area around the Southern Cross.

8 subs 20 secs @ 800 ISO. Canon 350D widefield 18mm lens @ F3.5

Thanks for the comments - I'm processing the images as fast as I can - honest!

Well apart from the weather, the beer, the food and the traffic I'm glad to be back.

If only NZ were a couple of hours flying time away it would make a great Star Party venue.

Here's the full frame, light gradient removed version of the posted image. I posted the cropped image as it cut out the worst of the light gradient, but showed the 'dark' patches in the Milky Way better. I think artistically it's the better image. Opinions please as this will alter the way I handle the other images.

The first posted image was processed entirely in ImagesPlus with the Digital Development module coming up trumps again.

think i prefer the first set myself , as it does show more , i wonder what Noel Carboni would do to this image . i think you would be amazed what he could pull out

Thanks Rog - it's what I prefer.

I got Noel's actions just before I went to NZ and am still learning what it will do. I will give it a go - I notice on looking at my e-mails that I've got an updtae from him, which I'll install first.
