Some really nice details on the close up.

Starliner docked with ISS

Thanks. The problem is that we only get one shot at a time so hard to tinker with settings. It is getting there slowly. -
Starliner docked with ISS
Kon replied to Kon's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
Thanks. I had some not so nice frames, but in them I could see a very nice bright reflection/flare. -
Starliner has finally docked to the ISS. I captured the two together last night between through passing clouds; I was lucky that as it was flying over there were some gaps inbetween. 8" Dob, manual tracking, asi120mc-s, 2x barlow, asicapture (0.7ms, gain 30, 150fps). PIPP and autostakkert. This was at 57degrees which is giving some nice details on the panels as well.

Boeing Starliner chasing ISS

Thanks Joe. You make me blush ☺️, but far from professional. -
These are great animations! It brings it to life.

Boeing Starliner chasing ISS
Kon replied to Kon's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
Thanks. Early on I try to track, but as it is coming to zenith I place my crosshair ahead of it and capture a more stable image. I use a RACI and never pay attention on my screen. I shoot one video and then in PIPP reject all the blanks. I manually check which frames are worth putting in autostakkert. -
Boeing Starliner chasing ISS

I have seen some amazing ISS photos online which track it, so it is possible. I only have a manual Dob. -
Boeing Starliner chasing ISS
Kon replied to Kon's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
Thanks. The first animation, ISS is coming from W to E. In the second one, it had already gone over me, and direction is Eastwards. In my finderscope I didn't notice anything different than ISS but I was focused on having ISS in the crosshairs and I could have missed it visually. Images are still Dob orientation. -
Boeing Starliner chasing ISS

I never thought I would have captured it. If skies are clear tonight, I should be able to capture the docked module. -
I imaged the Boeing Starliner chasing ISS see imaging wide field forum) and I had my first look of the Veil and NAN for this season (OIII filter and ES 24mm). The Veil showed the nice delicate filaments. I am so excited to have the summer nebulas coming back again.

I was out last night trying to take a few shots of ISS when I read that the Boeing Starliner was chasing it for docking. It was predicted to have docked by 2310 when the UK pass was happening so I thought i will see it docked; there were delays so my shots show the approach to the ISS. 8" Dob, manual tracking, asi120mc-s, 2x barlow. PIPP and autostakkert. Gif is made of the best frames in the sequence. I also have some of the best stacked frames of ISS. Boeing Starliner is the fuzzy blob. In the second gif, Starliner is roughly 200m away from ISS.

I just managed to capture Starliner chasing the ISS over uk at 2310. This is a single frame from the movie; the fuzzy dot has to be it. I will process the rest of the images post in the imaging section later.

Unexpected Coma Session: Orion/Helmerichs 300: 18/19th May 2022
Kon replied to Captain Scarlet's topic in Observing - Reports
Very nice report and nice targets. Light pollution from your spot doesn't seem to be much of an issue. -
Is it only Photoshop that can stitch them together? Gimp or other freeware? It may be handy for your lunar work? I am sorry, I am not making easy for you 💷💷💷💷💷

Nice work. At full resolution you have some great details. Alex mosaics are always full of details; it sounds like a lot of work but you shouldn't give up yet. You guys always deliver some of the best images here 😉

ISS over UK on 17 May 2022
Kon replied to Kon's topic in Imaging - Widefield, Special Events and Comets
I found that when it is directly overhead (90 degrees) the features are harder to come out. I hope to give another try this week since there are a few passes (weather is looking okish for now). Thanks Neil, very pleased with improving my ISS shots. Yes it looked really bright last night; i think that's why it was easier to track since I could see the crosshair. -
ISS was passing over UK at 2218 tonight and the clouds cleared just on time, although i could hear thunder not too far from where I was. 8" Dob, manual tracking, asi120mc-s, 2x barlow. I reordered over 30000 frames with around a 80% success rate. I stacked some of them, no further sharpening. PIPP and autostakkert. I found that at 67degrees pass i get the best view of the panels. I think the exposure could be less (asicapture settings were 0.7ms and 30 gain)

Sun imaging under very windy conditions and passing clouds. The full disk look alright but the close up is nothing to desire. I didn't.t try to sharpen the close up.

Very nice capture, and excellent colour balance.
-
Yes it was looking great. I thought I could see a bluish hue. The rimae was not the best in terms of lighting.
-
Continuing with the theme or rimae this week, I had a go at Aristarchus. I tried to bring some of the colours out but I think the monochrome version is better. 8" Dob, asi120mc-s, 2x barlow.

Thanks Trevor.

Fantastic images full of details!

I was out observing the Gassendi and its rimae as well, including the Rimae Mersenius. I remember from a previous observation that the small cratelets inside Mersenne are better light the following day.
