  1. The FOV will be quite narrow as you've shown, my zwo asi120mc-s is the same on my skymax 127 around the equivalent of a 6mm ep. As regarding your settings question try more gain and exposure time to image stars and work around that.
  2. Guilty as charged. I only seriously got into astronomy a year ago in April then as I had the budget for it, since then I've finally found my set up I should of got at the start, but was very green back then. I've had 5 scopes since then and still got 2 of them and sold the rest on to fund the others, so sort of offsetting the supply chain and helping others. Quite a few FLO and RVO orders, amazon, fleabay and here 😬. I'm not planning on any other astro purchases for a while now (really) as soon as my star adventurer on back order arrives from FLO when the ships dock. There maybe an odd cable to buy but nothing else until I can afford to astromod my new dslr in the future. Just happy to learn it more, now I'm where I want to be with my astro setup. Clear skies
  3. I have just moved onto a 600d from a 450d which I started out on, like lockie and others say the articulated screen makes the world of difference when connected on the back of the scope and shooting high up. My 450d got me into astrophotography with a dslr. Clear skies
  4. My dslr upgrade arrived today a used Canon 600d with only a shutter count of 4112, which is pretty good I think. Nice clean and with 2 batteries, charger, strap and kit lens. The rotating lcd screen will be a godsend now and save my knees from having to kneel down and also craning my neck to see the image on screen as I used to do with my 450d. I'll get the 600d modded in the future when funds allow and I start climbing back up the slippery slope of astrophotography and keep the 450d for general use.
  5. +1 for the talent cell battery pack, I followed the advice of @ScouseSpaceCadet but I use the 3000mah one and I've used my mount numerous times and keeps power running perfectly only charged the unit twice since December, though I suspect I only needed to charge it once so far, really does well holding power for days and weeks https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072HR211P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_N3M9HWPEAD1CM33T78Z4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 The extra USB port I use to plug my dew heater band in also whilst using the mount. I only use a cheap power cable that came with something I had and like ScouseSpaceCadet I use something to put my battery pack in whilst outside, it's an old dslr lens case with zip, keeps it all dew free.
  6. All delivered today, thank you to @mikemabelfor the 48mm t ring to connect my FF to my dslr. Then two other purchases a concertina type travel stool to fit in my backpack when walking to a couple of good viewing spots (very sturdy it is too) and care of 3dashtronomy a batinov mask for my 72ed with matching colour to dovetail livery (bit ocd I know) hoping it stays clear this evening to try it all out, for a later session now clocks gone forward. Clear skies
  7. Woohoo 😁 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-middle-east-56559904
  8. Agreed, the second hand market will be quite buoyant and bountiful soon enough, full of astro goodies
  9. They better be careful pushing and pulling that ship, my new star adventurer 2i wifi pro could be on there 😉😁 BBC News - Suez Canal: Fresh effort to refloat wedged container ship https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-56550350
  10. Couldn't agree more, but I'll just have to stay up past my bedtime and welcome the season of general tiredness at work 😴 plus I've got the milky way imaging, Jupiter and Saturn planned for this summer early autumn
  11. Edit... I've added the moon image taken at dusk with slight high cloud at the time giving the moon a lovely glow, then images of M35, and M47 & 46 NGC 2423 only 5 subs no calibration files as I was just trying it out. I've a batinov mask on order for the scope now so focus will be sharper.
  12. I think you can just put it in the washing machine
  13. +1,2, 3 & 4 for baader lens fluid and cloth, I also use a blower first, then use the baader fluid, sometimes the brush on the lens pen is handy for me
  14. I hope you have your 3 hours of Clear skies tonight Stu, I've just check CO and MO and both showing cloud and light rain for here, with rinds picking up, good job I booked a ticket for the sky at night webinar with Dara O'Briain tonight 🌌🔭📷
  15. Lovely report of first light with your new scope, enjoy, clear skies 👍
  16. Thank you, I'm loving the scope, I just didn't know where to send the scope to first last night, so much beauty to see up there that I've been unable to see properly before, clear skies
  17. Sorry about that Neil. I've been looking for this scope for an eternity, I really enjoyed first light with it and thoroughly researched it as my forever scope. Hope you get one soon, clear skies Lee
  18. Hi Mike, thank you agsin for the sale of the scope and kit. I'm thoroughly enjoying the scope so far and first light on first night 👍. Your images are fantastic, if I. An only get near that quality. Clear skies
  19. Hi, this report may be a bit jumbled and giddy as I was light a child again last evening with my new to me sw evostar 72ed ds pro from a fellow member on here mikemabel. I unboxed the scope and just stood there in awe. Checking CO and MO there was due to be a couple of hours of mostly clear skies (how did this happen with new equipment day), I got all my other kit together that I'd need and headed outside around 7pm to set up even though it was dusk. I fitted the scope to my az gti mount and tripod, though I'm going to have to fit my longer dovetail bar as to balance with my dslr attached I need slightly more than the short one allows, fitted the 9x50 raci FS and removed both caps from the scope to cool down. After cool down time I slewed quickly to the moon with dslr attached to a extension tube (my t ring is a 42mm and I needed a 48mm one to connect to the ovl FF, so that's on order) the moon gave very sharp views and very very little CA of any atall, took the few obligatory shots of the moon. Then aligned the scope properly in the synscan app now the stars were beginning to appear and went on a magical tour that evening. To cor coroli, M42, M81, Pleiades, beehive cluster, M35 and M47. The views were breathtaking through the scope as I've never had a widefield scope before only my skymax 127, so to view all the clusters in their glory was something to behold. I duly took a few snaps with my dslr connected (to follow later) I was so chuffed to get a couple of quick 15 sec subs of M81, a first in that one for me. I even managed to get the ISS in shot passing cor coroli but no detail just a white star. I really didn't want to come in that evening as I was enjoying myself so much but bed and work were calling. I can't wait to have more sessions with this scope and explore more targets and really get better with the subs on some of them. This is definitely my forever scope and life partner to my skymax 127. Clear skies.
  20. I've dived head first without even looking 😂, also said goodbye to my wallet and bank ages ago, not even got my star adventurer that's on order yet, then that'll be the last purchase 🤫😬, my sanity went a long way before my wallet too, I thoroughly enjoyed my first session with it out of the box so to speak and looking forward to learning more about it, so amazed I even got 2 subs of M81 at 15 secs on this setup, pure fluke I think, I'm definitely going to enjoy this ride 🔭🌌
  21. My new evostar 72ed ds pro scope in action tonight on my az gti, the clouds departed for a while which is an odd thing for new equipment to do. All I can say is WOW! I know now why I really wanted this scope, I've seen so much more tonight than ever before with my Skymax 127. A good test on the moon showed very very very little CA if any, then aligned my az gti properly and everything was in the centre of the view everytime, saw cor coroli, the ISS pass cor caroli but no detail, will wait until it transits the moon for a good shot, then to M42, M81, Pleiades, beehive cluster, M35 and M47. Even a few snaps on the dslr. I'm so so happy. Excuse my over excitement I'm like a child.
  22. This specimen of beauty arrived today courtesy of fellow member @mikemabel and parcel force. Thank you Mike for the smooth sale. So chuffed with the purchase of the scope and extras, I'm hoping to get the scope out tonight on my az gti mount, even if it is to see the moon between the clouds for a quick test, I'm sure I'll have many questions to ask about this scope, though thoroughly researched it on here and YouTube. Clear skies everyone. (though I've probably blighted the whole of Cornwall with clouds now) 😉
  23. Great inage with the az gti were you using it in eq or az mode, as I've the az gti and 72ed coming moro hopefully, no wedge yet as my star adventurer probably not arriving until late April at earliest and like to give this a go. Clear skies
  24. Hi Not what the postman brought but the local council 🤫, it's a black tub that glass recycling goes in but it's making the perfect dew shield for my laptop and its just the right size, no more dewy laptop. 👍
  25. Update to my post... I'm not going with the ioptron skyguider pro, during my research I'm not completely sold on it vs the star adventurer, so will continue to wait for my star adventurer order. Thanks for looking. Clear skies
