  1. Hi I'm am just trying out my new zwo asi294mc pro with my asiair pro. When trying to image in preview mode on bin 1 l, I get no preview image on screen. If I switch it to bin 2 I get the preview image on screen. When setting a trial autorun it's the same thing on bin 1 no preview image on screen and when on bin 2 I get the preview image. On bin 1 & 2 the images are saved into the autorun folder. I'm wondering do it need to image now in bin 2. My set up is sw 72ed AzGti, asiair pro, guidecam zwo asi120mc-s, main camera zwo asi294mc pro. The asiair pro app updated to the new version 1.8.2-9. 10. I shall have to wait until a clear night and give it a try properly. It maybe to do with the focal length of the main camera scope that needs to plate solve first. Or possibly as I have read that the new updated app and firmware sets the sd card as default storage and not the 64gb USB key as I noticed the storage was only 20gb. The top image is on bin 1 (excuse my mug) Bottom image is bin 2
  2. Definitely agree the asiair pro is so user friendly and great to get into astrophotography, clear skies friend 👍
  3. Thank you, I think it will be ok for my set up, basically a USB2 cable connecting into the USB 3 port on the 120. Thus cable does go to a USB2 port on the 294 so shouldn't be any issues. 👍
  4. Thank you for your help, yep the USB 2b cable is different to the usb3 b one, next night I get to try it I'll take out my spare usb3 b cable just incase.
  5. Thank you, really looking forward to hopefully getting some time with it soon. Connected up to the scope and asiair pro tonight and all seems OK so far, without obviously taking images yet. Going to start building my dark library this weekend. Good luck for getting yours soon 👍
  6. I now have a zwo asi294mc pro and will be connecting my zwo asi120mc-s guidecam to it for guiding. My question stupidly is, as the port on the 120 is usb 3 and the cable to connect to the USB 2 port on the 294 is a USB 2 cable will it still guide ok or should I use a USB 3 cable? My thinking is that the USB 2 cable is suffcient on the USB 3 port, dispite the connection being slightly different. That all probably sounds like gibberish haha
  7. Brilliant! So pleased the firmware update has hopefully sorted your issue now. I also find that a little extra weight on the counterweight bar helps. I have 2 star adventurer weights on my cw bar but the bar is shorter. 2-3 mins are generally the better times to go for in my experience, never gone higher than 3 atm. If you don't already definitely dither your images when taking them if possible.
  8. This stunner arrived today courtesy of RVO. Never thought I'd ever own one of these a beautiful zwo asi294mc pro but been saving up, so so excited eek! Was toying between the zwo 533 mc pro but the larger sensor swayed me. This will most likely be my last astro purchase for the year. So now I can say goodbye to Canon banding that's plagued me and look forward to better images hopefully as long as my baffoonly processing doesnt get in the way. I've had months of cloudy skies so this purchase will hopefully have the reverse effect. Also arrived this almanac book from amazon (ordered before the 294 mc pro, so still my last purchase)
  9. I used to have the sv105 for planetary and lunar and couldn't get on with the camera one bit and thought it was pretty rubbish Used it in my 150p and Skymax 127. Then I bought a zwo asi120mc-s though more expensive, it just works simple easy to use no issues whatsoever. I use this as my guidescope camera now. I agree with others and definitely go zwo cameras.
  10. Great report there, proving the 127 mak is a lovely scope to use, one of the best scopes I ever 'owned' it will be on my list afain to own at some stage. Clear skies and good luck completing the messier list 👍
  11. This is a great little mount for astrophotography I find, yes it can't compete with the big boys in the dedicated eq mounts but really pushes the boundaries for astrophotography, even though it isn't specifically designed to do it. If quick portability is what you require the az gti is a great mount. I can guide with my zwo asi120mc-s guidescope and asiair pro well between 0.8-2 on good nights and well happy with this from the az gti. The mak will perform well on the planets and lunar imaging in alt az mode, a 127 would be better for this. But but nothing wrong with the 102 atall. Some double stars are good fun to image as I did in the past with my old 127.
  12. Hi Ray Good news on the mount working well last night, let's hope it is just a glitch and sorted itself now. Could of been the synscan app as @Ags had issues regarding the synscan app last night. Any further help this thread will do its best 👍
  13. I did seem to remember a while back and when I was using synscan pro app I kept an old phone and never updated software just incase. Hopefully this has sort of helped you a bit 😊
  14. At least you got to the bottom of it Ags, ready for next time now. Your phone didn't update itself as there's some issues with synscan pro not working on android software above 11 I think.
  15. I'm sure I've seen this before somewhere, it's like the mount isn't transmitting it's WiFi signal. Is the mount flashing led light on, definitely try another device or uninstall the app and reinstall yo see if it helps. Trying to do a search on no device found with synscan app.
  16. Very strange glitch that, I wonder if trying another device to see if it connects
  17. Not good Ags, was the software glitch the app, phone or mount.
  18. Hi Ray It's been a long time since I used my mount via the synscan app. I use mine via an asiair pro now, so I shall raid my memory banks for the synscan app one again. Can I ask is it still in warranty? I would definitely suggest updating the firmware just to be sure on that side of things. You say 'I usually tighten the clutches then release them so that I can still move by hand. Not too tight and not too slack. They both move smoothly when fully released.' You shouldn't be able to move the mount by hand when the clutches are tightened up. Sorry if I got confused there. What kind of counterweight have you and scope on the mount. I think the point and track will be greyed out in EQ mode. Just had another thought, have you tried another device to connect to your mount via the synscan app and does your app need updating atall.
  19. Sounds like a real pain in the posterior to say the least. Can I ask. 1.what firmware your running on the az gti 2.how are you controlling the mount, via synscan app or pc. 3. How are you polar aligning it. 4.when you move the mount manually do you feel any resistance in RA or dec and when moved via synscan does the mount move freely. 5.also another thing how are you connecting the mount to synscan. A picture of your setup in EQ mode woukd be cool if possible. Cheers Lee
  20. Not down here in North Cornwall 😔 been out twice with the set up 13th October and 16th December, only a sniff of Orion very quickly with my 7x50 bins. I'm pleased others have finally had some beautiful clear skies. Orion will be gone by the time clouds clear here, losing my mojo big time
  21. As @badhexsuggested and yourself is to try another power source that is suitable to the extreme temperatures your having and see if the problem persists. I have been down to around 0 to - 1 also and had no issues powering with my talentcell battery pack but now run from my asiair pro via a mains electricity supply.
  22. Going off topic slightly but yep I used it on my old scopes of sw 150p and Skymax 127 as a planetary camera and on usb 3 connection the frame rate was very high indeed, I think there are better planetary cameras but for the price you can't go wrong especially if you pick one up cheap in the classifieds.
  23. I agree, I have the zwo asi120mc-s and use it as a guidecam now but did use it for planetary and for the price it's a beaut. It's definitely a case of lose the diagonal and insert the camera straight in the back of the scope 👍
  24. You may have to remove the diagonal and just insert the zwo asi120mc-s straight into the focus tube of the telescope. As it may be to far out from the focus tube with the diagonal in aswell to achieve focus. What scope do you have? (I have seen now you have a sw St 120) Posted same time as Bruno haha.
