  1. I just went with the more expensive lynx astro cable as you say for the extra insurance I know it would work and good quality and also super fast delivery from Flo. I didn't want to risk damaging my mount as I can't afford another incase. I think it was on cuiv the lazy geeks video once when he bought a cable from Ali and didn't have a good experience eith it, just stuck in my head. I know Ali can sell some good quality items though.
  2. Thank you guys. I've think I've found it now as tomato as said in the wipe function and in the synthetics and find 2 types of horizontal banding settings ๐Ÿ‘thank you again
  3. Here is my reprocessing of old data on M33 gathered in October this year. I now used Star tools, followed by a high pass and making the background darker in photoshop and a final denoise in topaz denoise. I think it looks much better than my previous attempts. The star colours are much more vibrant and the dso is less crunchy. I love the star tools software in conjunction with the other 2 pieces of software. Star tools makes stretching the image much more easier and the star masks are so easy to apply and use. The core module is so good to use to make the core less bright and show more detail in there. It was taken using my sw 72ed AzGti Canon 600D in EQ mode with asiair pro. 4 hours of data over 3 nights at 800iso.
  4. I will search out for any other posts or resources in the Internet about the ticking. Hopefully another AzGti user will of had the same issue to be able to help you firstly. I'm not sure if I had the ticking or clicking issue before but it could be related to either the RA or Dec clutches to tight mayor try slackening them off a touch to see if the issue remains. I did follow a guide on the Internet about stripping down and regreasing the mount. When the clutches are totally slackened off does the mount move freely without binding? If the RA is binding you can add a homemade plastic washer as shown in this video You can do as much as you like regarding the strip down, I just regreased the whole workings and altered how tight the locking ring is by the grub screws that on the sides of the locking ring (circled in orange, not my image) I found to tight and it was binding and to loose it was just not gripping enough, it was a case of small increments. Sorry if this is all baffling and a lot to take in but it may help you.
  5. Thank you for your help, I thought I was losing it for a moment then haha and now I know the banding module has gone I shall ask him how I can mimic it or use another module in star tools for it.
  6. Hi I'm new to star tools having just purchased after an enlightening trial period on the software. Could someone tell me where the band module is to see how my banding can reduced in my images. I used to use photoshop but finding Startools quite refreshing and simple. I'm using version 1.7.461 Clear skies
  7. Also a good place to add the latest firmware update for the az gti mount update 3.37 is now available. This update sorts a bug on a certain board used in the mount. The link is here. http://skywatcher.com/download/software/motor-control-firmware/ You can either update via WiFi using the WiFi version of the motor controller firmware loader or the best way is to use a ftdi USB cable and use the pc direct motor controller firmware loader programme. When updating using either way make sure your laptop providing the update has its Internet disconnected on both wifi and Lan as this will hopefully stop the bricking or failure to update the mount.
  8. Perfect @badhexjust the sort of advice needed on here, top work thank you
  9. Thank you @badhex, you gave me the push to start the thread, hope it will gives others a place to seek help or show their set ups on the az gti. Definitely a much valued contributor to this thread๐Ÿ‘
  10. All set up in the mounts thread, hoping it can become a one stop place for all az gti info and advice along with your vast knowledge haha, spread the word!
  11. Hi all This will hopefully be the new thread for all things regarding the skywatcher Az Gti mount. Please share anything you think is relevant or ask any questions regarding this stunning and very capable mount. I'm hoping that this will become the central hub for this mount and the place to come to for advice, help, information and knowledge for the Az Gti. Share your images of your mount and set up along with images captured or experiences observing with it. I've owned mine since May this year and use it with my sw 72ed ds pro, asi air pro, zwo asi294mc pro (used to use a canon 600d) in EQ mode. Even though its mot meant for astrophotography it sure can pull out some brilliant performances. I live in a 1st floor flat and portability is key for me and the goto functionality is a godsend to setup quickly. So feel free to ask anything and other az gti owners can help and advise.
  12. That's very kind of you, I'll start it if it's ok but please do share your vast knowledge of the AzGti mount too, hopefully between the both of us others will learn to get the joy out of this stunning mount. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜
  13. I have searched but not seen an AzGti owners thread, its a popular mount and be nice to have an owners thread like the big boys mounts ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ‘
  14. No problems, glad you got it now and cheaper too, enjoy it and the auto focuser. I'm just saving up for the zwo asi 294mc pro, probably in 2 years time I'll afford it haha. Clear skies
  15. Hi @jackp93 there's a 533mc pro in flo atm on offer at ยฃ809.
  16. Thank you, that's a great tip and I shall definitely be making this mod for my az gti, very kind of you ๐Ÿ‘
  17. I agree. I think you can get the FTDI cables from Ali but I've read a lot of places that these cheap cables can do far worse to the mount so best avoided and go with a known and well trusted retailer. Thinking maybe there should be a AzGti owners thread to construct and put all requests in there.
  18. Just what I was thinking with owning the original puck, be nice to cover the whole workings
  19. I have bought the lynx astro ftdi eqdir cable from Flo and works a treat for me, it costs more bug the quality is superb.
  20. I have my sw 72ed on an AzGti mount albeit in eq mode using 2 sw star adventurer weights with my Canon 600D and have had great tracking and guiding with my AAP, so your impending setup should cope admirably with the weight. One bit of advice, I'd definitely update the AzGti firmware. Clear skies
  21. Hi I have updated my mount many times, first couple of goes with the WiFi just make sure your laptop isn't connected to the Internet when updating firmware and do it close to the router. I now do it via a pc direct eqdir cable and still have the laptop not connected to the Internet and all is successful.
  22. Version 3.37 is now out! This update fixes a bug with certain boards.
  23. Yes I watched this video as an avid lover of my az gti mount and was surprised that sometimes they machine the thread and sometimes not. So as you say not a design fault and skywatcher don't have to replace it with a threaded one.
  24. As elp and I have said more information is needed as to the exact issues you are experiencing. If you are still running the default alt az firmware on the az gti and it's straight out the box then you've mounted your scope the wrong way round in your picture, so your rdf and focus tube will be on the bottom and pretty unusable. You'd need to update the firmware to the right arm dual az/eq mode 3.36 here. http://skywatcher.com/download/software/motor-control-firmware/ Also you'd need to download the relevant motor controller software loader on the same page, either the WiFi version or pc direct cable version. Like elp says by default it's left hand mounted alt az.
