  1. Hi Phil, welcome to SGL
  2. I was only teasing! I’ll have to agree with you on the 8inch reflectors, I wish I’d done some more research when looking for my first scope. I would trade my 127 SCT for one in a heartbeat.
  3. Welcome to SGL! Your question is bound to awake the dob mob , so I’ll leave them and the more experienced members to discuss options with you. Good luck finding a scope!

    Hello!

    Hi Eric, welcome to SGL
  6. It may be useful if you could add an example image, just so everyone can understand your question better
  7. Hi Thomas, Your Canon DSLR will use the aperture of the telescope, which is fixed, whereas a lens is able to alter its aperture.
  8. Hi Ian, welcome to the lounge Clear Skies!

    Hi Everyone.

    Hi Wayne, welcome to SGL
  11. Welcome to SGL. Have fun with your new scope 😃
  12. All incredible. That fourth Sequator one is my favourite, I think the contrast makes the image look really dramatic
  13. Hi Neil, welcome to SGL! 😀

    Hello

Hi Nick, welcome to SGL 😀
  15. The 224MC is great, it’s what I use for my lunar and planetary photography. If your budget can stretch then I’d agree with Noah and go with that
  16. +1 for StarSense. I’ve got it on my 5SE and it makes aligning a breeze
  17. Not sure if you can get it separate from the rings? You can get another set of rings which come with that part for £21 from FLO.
  18. Welcome back! Are you wanting to use the camera purely for visual observation, or for photography as well? Something like this would be more than suitable for visual, and will work well if ever you decide to try your hand at some planetary AP. Josh
  19. Hi and welcome, As John mentioned a rough budget would help with recommendations. I started off with a NexStar 5SE (I still have it!) and I think it's superb. It's somewhat similar to the SW 127 and has a GoTo system, which I think is nice for beginners. The long focal length is good for planets.
  20. I was under the impression that the PowerTank didn’t have a 12V cigarette output? May be wrong
  21. https://www.amazon.co.uk/kenable-2-1mm-5-5mm-Connector-Power/dp/B079J95WND/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=dc+to+dc+cable&qid=1587418993&sr=8-4 Something like this would work I believe
  22. Good point. Can’t believe no one thought of that, myself included! 🤦‍♂️
  23. I suppose so yes. It’s a smidge lighter than the 200P, so a HEQ5 would have no problem with it. It’s faster as well, as you say, and much better suited for AP in general. If the OP wants more focal length at a more manageable size and weight it’s much better. To quote FLO however; Fast newtonians are best suited to experienced astronomers. They require precise collimation and a coma corrector to reach their full potential. Saying that, it may be worthwhile learning collimation…
