  1. Yes, well I took the camera off, put it inside upside down on my desk, so no chance of any light getting in, and took a 10 minute dark for the hell of it, and it was perfect….so it’s deffo light creeping in from somewhere….so wow this sensor is super super sensitive….my olde SX M25c CCD camera would never have picked up that….
  2. What about at night after a session, with lens cap on, does that not work either for darks…? My Tak lens cap is metal…
  3. Well just been playing with my new QHY268c and thought I would try a few darks, so normally I would just put the lens cap on the scope, in the obsy, which is pretty dark even in the day, and Snap away, but with this camera I was getting some light in, through the filter drawer or somewhere, never had this issue with my old CCD, so this one seems that sensitive that I can’t do it this way, I really though it would be dark enough in there, even in the day with lens cap on, so had to wait till it was dark outside before I could do them…. Does this sound normal….it’s fine now it’s dark….
  4. Can I ask, is there a need for Bias as well as dark flats, as I read with CMOS then Dark flats are the best and only one needed, along with Darks and Flats…?
  5. Well something to aim for there….superb…👍🏼
  6. Do you ever use the next gain mode up, the high gain mode, I have heard that is good on Gain 0 and offset 30….?
  7. Yes this is the issue, the QHY seems a bit different with its ideal settings compared to the RisingCam and ASI version, so I need to learn…👍🏼
  8. Ok, I am coming from years of using a CCD, so this CMOS lark is all new to me, trying to get my head round it, but everyone I talk to gives varying options on starting gain and offset settings for the QHY268c especially as it had four Modes to choose from too, where as the ASI has only one….🤯🤯
  9. Hmmm, not sure about that, I think the offset is very relevant from what I have read….🤔
  10. Ah, you are not on the latest NINA I am on version 2 beta 13 so I think there have been some changes….👍🏼
  11. Do you use a USB limit of 0 or is that not set yet, also my gain only goes up to 350 and offset 250…strange….
  12. My QHY was all set to zero, gain and offset out of the box when connected to NINA, but I don’t use the ASCOM driver I use native…🤔
  13. I’m not really sure why they thought a tilt adjuster was not as important on the colour version….is it not as important on colour,? I don’t really know but I thought it would be the same..?? Or as the mono came out later, maybe they just changed the design and will change on newer colour models in the future….who knows.. 👍🏼 edit, I guess by the same logic why no CAA on the mono… 🤔🤔
  14. Yes, it’s a bit misleading as in the advert for the colour version it states it’s a tilt adapter, but it’s not, I think they must have used the same write up on both the colour and the mono…but I did read on a forum that someone posted, it was a CAA and not a tilt adjuster before I purchased so I was not disappointed when it arrived…
  15. Camera Angle Adjuster, for rotation adjustment….so on my QHY there are three thumb screws your can loosen and rotate the camera…👍🏼
  16. There is no built in option to correct tilt on the latest QHY either, just a built in CAA …. ☹️
  17. I think this is where you are confusing people, when you say “4 seconds per frame total 2 minutes per image x 15” It should say 450 x 4 second images giving a total of 15mins, as each frame is an actual image….
  18. Glad it’s arrived safe and sound, the colour looks lighter than on the aliexpress site, not that it matters…I went for the QHY colour option in the end as it was on offer at MA for £1650 So went for it….👍🏼 768 wow that is a large offset…😮
  19. This was my first, Dumbell Nebula taken with an unmodded canon 1000D DSLR about ten years ago, through an 8” Mede SCT, stacked in DSS cropped and finished in PS, 30 x 3 min subs with darks…
  20. thanks 👍🏼 So you leave the desiccant tube fitted all the time…? And the heated window…is that just on all the time…? Or can it be turned on and off…..
  21. Hello, I just took delivery of this QHY268c CMOS camera and I use NINA, I have a couple of questions, First is there an option for turning the heated window on and off, either in the Native or the ASCOM driver..? Secondly the camera came with a desiccant tube and a pot of desiccant balls, how do you know when this needs to be used ?, as my camera is on the scope all the time this time of year in an obsy…I don’t store it in a case between sessions… Finally what is the setting for USB traffic for ? and what to set that on ? I am moving from CCD so never had theses settings before to deal with thanks all Stuart
  22. Edited message above with info from the NINA forum
  23. Yes you just save the file from your C drive, appdata, Nina and put it into the same folder on the new laptop, you have to enable show hidden files as appdata is hidden by default I think….
