  1. You need the latest version of Ascom Installed and this driver (link below) , it’s the 15th one on the list, not the newer one thats two above it in the list, I Have used this with a meade LX90 with audiostar handset, and PHD to guide, worked very well. the 13th driver on the list is the newer driver, and still experimental, and I have not tried that at all, so do t know if that works or not... https://ascom-standards.org/Downloads/ScopeDrivers.htm
  2. You would be better off with Astroberry, which is free, or Stellarmate, as the Atik, I think is set up to only work with Atik cameras....which is not very flexible..., besides it’s an extortionate price for what it is, there is a Stellarmate Pro coming out next year first quarter, which will have built in power and dew control ports, along with real time clock and GPS... My advice again would be to buy an rpi4 and a case, approx £60 and use the free Astroberry software, it is really superb... 😀👍
  3. Yes, I think it’s a very tall order for that budget, maybe forget buying new, and look for some good used kit, you may just do it then... 👍
  4. That is very useful to know, and I would not have realised that... but would it really matter if the imaging software using them crashes anyway...? Just playing devils advocate here... not being negative..
  5. Excellent video, must one question, is there a benefit to starting indiserver and you profile, via the panel, rather then setting up and starting from within ekos...?? As I have always just done it from within ekos..?
  6. Ok, thanks, hmmm so the screws would have to be pretty darn tight to distort pieces of glass that thick....or is it more of a tilt to the glass... ..?
  7. Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly are pinched optics, by that I mean what has to wrong with the scope to have this happen, as I find it intriguing...
  8. The flashing is a doddle and takes two mins to do, I have done loads, and never had any issues... I can flash it if required... 👍
  9. APM there lies your problem, it’s in a different housing... the firmware flash requires you to have the software tool and the firmwear file, and it CAN ONLY be done on a windows XP machine, or a win 7 machine with an XP virtual machine running...so not easy, the file and tool is on the internet if you search and is very easy to do, I have done it loads of times for people at my club.. So maybe your best bet is to contact Andy at Astronomiser for help...
  10. All four of the Philips webcams Toucam pro, Pro II, SPC880 and SCP900nc, used over the years, were able to be modded with mono sensor, we need to see a pic of his actual camera, and whether if one of the first three, it has had an updated flashed firmwear, which it needs to run on win 10, if not then only will run on XP
  11. First of all what model Philips webcam is it ?, as if it’s the toucam pro or pro II then unless it’s been flashed with the latest SPC900 firmwear then no it won’t work, (only on XP) if is is the black SPC880 then again no unless it’s been flashed, but if it is the native SPC900nc then yes it will work with the later drivers from the Philips website...
  12. Hmmm, so here is a question for you, or anyone else who has an opinion... Lets say I go for a Telegizmo 365 cover, and because of the shape of my pier with mount, when the cover is fastened there will be very little air flow at all, would it be best to just heat up the area inside to stop condensation, or use a mini dehumidifier to remove all the moisture in the air, or a combination of the two.....?. 👍
  13. I guess I could look at anchoring it like that, also my only real worry is water getting into the EQ8 circuit board, the rest of the mount can handle a bit of damp...not sure how easy it could get in there...I have replaced all the bolts on the mount head for stainless steel ones, as the original ones were black and a prone to rust within the first six months of new...
  14. The problem is for me, that it will be over an EQ8 and pier, so I have to fasten tight at the bottom, or it could just blow off in wind..as the pier with mount is really just tubular in shape.... 🙁
  15. There is full support now, for QHY polemaster software, and it comes installed as standard... also the problem with Remote Desktop as opposed to VNC, is that if you loose connection and then have to re connect, you loose the screen, as it creates a new desktop session each time it’s connected, so you can’t carry on from where you left off...no good for SM, at all really... 😀
  16. Thanks for this. Very interesting and good info, the only real way to stop condensation is airflow in and out, this is why I asked the question as the TG covers have a pull cord strap at the bottom, and I am talking about the straight covers, tubular version for 11, SCT, not the EQ mount covers, so with this strap done up around the base of my pier, there would be very little airflow....so hence my issues... I can’t find anywhere, where it states they are breathable, and with the heat reflective lining, I can’t see how they can be....if heat can’t get in or escape, then moisture certainly can’t.... 🤔🤔
  17. I have an old iPad Air 1st gen, on IOS 12 and the app works perfectly .. , but like I said you need VNC and NOT RDP, they are very different....
  18. That was my point, but it was stated by @shadowoo2 to use Stellarium with it, “ note you MUST use the stellarmate EKOS platform and stellarium“, which was odd coming from someone who had apparently released videos on how to use SM.. 🤔🤔
  19. I afraid you have got a few things quite wrong here... Firstly, don’t use RDP use VNC as RDP opens a new session each time you open, secondly the Polemaster works fine through SM I have used one loads of times...and on the SM OS there is polemaster software by QHY anyway now....as of SM version 1.4.5 And you use Ekos with Kstars and not Stellarium, it an all in one package no need for a third party planetarium software...
  20. Hello, I wanted some info is possible, I have a cover for my EQ8 mount, on pier, (don’t leave scopes on) to use for a few days at a time, but wanted to leave my EQ8 mount out all the time, and the cover I have won’t really be suitable for that.. So I have been looking at the above mentioned cover, now the issue I have is, nowhere on the Telegizmo site does it mention whether these covers are breathable, the reason I say that, Is because surely they need to be, how to they stop condensation, when they have no airflow at all, and with there special silver heat reflective layer built in, then obviously no moisture can get out...I am confused by this, so any help off owners of these covers would be useful, especially people who have used them here in the U.K. for a year or more with a mount under them...I am really worried about getting loads of condensation and ruining my mount if I leave under long term.... Thanks in advance
  21. Yes you can see the images being taken.... but Unfortunately that Atik softer is just windows and Ascom, so no way it will work on Linux or RPI at all....
  22. Hello, You certainly haven’t wasted your money at all, it’s an excellent all in one solution for image capture, and perfect to control all you kit with no wires from your mount... The Stellarmate APP can do pretty much everything, you connect wirelessly to the RPI and control it all from the app, image capture, platesolve, focus, align, and more, nothing else is needed....
  23. Just a heads up if you use one, the QHY polemaster does not work in ekos on Astroberry, not sure why but I have tried everything... AFAIK it works on raspbian in ekos, so am at a loss as to why not on Astroberry...
