  1. Hmmm, interesting. The person from Sheffield who keeps posting astro photos on the local facebook page has posted some images of the moon from today. I don't know what part of Sheffield they are in but I've seen 100% high cloud all day today with just the sun occasionally lighting it up.
  2. 714 / 24 = 30 714 / 15 = 48 714 / 3-8 = 238 - 89
  3. 24mm UFF - various brands available but the StellaLyra is the least expensive https://www.firstlightoptics.com/stellalyra-eyepieces/stellalyra-24mm-ultra-flat-field-125-eyepiece.html
  4. I have a 12" f5. It takes me a few seconds to collimate and it is perfect. I 'had' an 8" f4. I spent hours trying to collimate it. Despite my expertise in collimation it was never even close. In six months of ownership I got no observing time out of it at all. All the time was spent collimating...
  5. I saw some pics of the moon on my local fb group from last night. However they were hazy. I might have tried the scope If I'd have known there was a chance. CO was red 100% all the way. I could see the moon late on here (I'd been watching tv all night), but it was too low to bother.

  7. I've had a look through one. Astonishing view of the Witch's Broom from B4 skies. That was with a 31mm Nagler and OIII filter. It was really bright and jumped out at you.
  8. I don't have one of these but I do have an older Celestron 45° erect image prism. It is surprisingly good.
  9. They look really good for £39 👍 No - I have too many eyepieces already...
  10. @FLO are the specs for the 5.5mm and 7.5mm transposed? The field stops and elements look wrong.
  11. Fabulous images. It must have been quite a sight.
  12. Best for image quality: 2" - Baader T2 prism 1.25" - Takahashi prism Both have better planetary performance than mirror diagonals - and I have the excellent Baader 2" dielectric.
  13. You can get 24mm 68° eyepieces for it
  14. I use the 30mm StellaLyra UFF and it is excellent. So is the rest of the range from the reports I've read.
  15. You already have the Svbony 3-8, which would have been my recommendation for planets. If you are sticking to 1.25" fitting, then the 24mm UFF would be my next choice along with the 15mm. That will give you x30, x48 and the range x89 to x238.
  16. As for E + F , they are a struggle with the 100mm due to the light pollution here. I rarely get below mag 10 on most nights. Easy peasy in the 12" though I've not tried the 120mm yet though I know from the past that is great for picking up the nebula itself.
  17. I can't see into the black one but the red one looks to have a restricted aperture. It might be an issue with some wide field eyepieces.
  18. I find in the 12" Sirius is too bright to see the pup despite its extra resolution. The 4" splits it when the seeing is good - which is not often.
  19. Great selection 👍 That area won't come round to my observing side of the house for a while. I shall look forward to it.
  20. What a night. As soon as the wind dropped it clouded over 😡
  21. If the seeing is good you should be able to see the GRS, ovals, knots and festoons. If the seeing is poor it could well be blank.
