  1. I bought the same for my Christmas pressies 80ed. Just cut around the foam, not brilliant cutting but did the job. Solar ED scope very comfortable and secure. Compliments my Lunt very nicely.
  2. Thanks, wasn't sure what the baader k line filter would be like because it's quite a bit winder than the Lunt cak. 10angstrum instead of the Lunt 2.4 but pleased. It's not a cheap filter at £250 but far less than Lunt at £1000 to £1500 plus. Also the baader k line can eventually be used with the Lunt Cak to increase contrast so nothing lost. Sorry, quoted 10A for the baader, that's wrong, it's 80A, thanks to merlin66 for putting me right. ed.
  3. Just an update. I've only brought the baader K line filter 395nm at the moment and got an 80ed f6.8.. saving for the biggie, the Lunt cak. Preliminary results seems a good match.
  4. I currently use a solarquest mount which is alt az. It's brilliant, turn it on and off it goes, centres and tracks. Based on the skywatcher Azgti. I use it for both my solar scope's but eventually I want to mount both scope's on a bigger altaz mount. Love the Modern Astronomy altaz 100 but waiting for the motorized version.
  5. I don't think the telescope in the first house is balanced properly so I guess they're struggling with the new mount to get balance, lol.
  6. Welcome to SGL hope you have lots of fun despite the weather.
  7. Thanks Steve, appreciated. The Sun's always there, it's just those nasty clouds that get in the way, lol. I'm in the next county, Devon and I've only imaged the sun five times this month.
  8. Thanks, appreciate your comments. The proms certainly were fantastic many times bigger than the Earth.
  9. I can't see a thing at night through my scope's, lol.
  10. It is a sad state of affairs. As I've said I personally didn't want to risk it and went for a Lunt after owning the Lunt 35mm I got hold of a Lunt 60mm and double stack filter.
  11. No it's just a screen shot of one frame that I've just tweaked in Photoshop. Not had time to process the 1000 frames yet. In the eyepiece it's a little less pronounced from my experience but I've 62 year old eyes, lol.
  12. The false colour is achieved by changing first the mono bit image to RGB and using colour RGB to then apply to gain a reasonable associated colour. All the image is changed by applying the different amounts of RGB. The outer colour will always be darker because it's darker in the original image. If you go to black you loose the contrast of the prominences. It's a fine balance to keep the surface details with that of the prominences. As this screen shot from today only in mono as I've not processed all the data yet.
  13. I have a Lunt 60 DS it's a fantastic scope but with a b1200. I believe imaging is more difficult with the b600 but fine for visual. Image taken with my setup using Zwo ASI 178mmm. False colour added in PS CS2
  14. Baader-Cak filter is brilliant so much better than the continuum. It's more towards the violet/ultra violet spectrum. Only imaging wise, our eyes can't see much visually in that range.
  15. Yeah, lovely image, on my to do list when we're safe to travel once more.
  16. You can start with a baader Ca-K filter around £250. Particularly if you've already got a refractor. This is what I get using my 80ed and baader Ca-K filter. It shows the line's of falculie and spots plus granulation very well.
  17. That's the right place, just scroll down until you come to the webcam image's. You can scroll through the timeline.
