  1. Dual boot is the answer for you my friend. ?
  2. Very nice Roland! I have the same scope and similar camera although restricted views to the south from home so haven't managed to point my scope in the direction of Jupiter just yet.
  3. I've been in this hobby for a mere four months now. I can only dream of the day I produce an image like that. Don't be so hard on yourself. That is a fantastic photo!
  4. Forgive my stupidity; Does that mean you don't use PHD2 at all? IE: APT does it all, imaging plans, guiding etc? Again, forgive my stupidity; What does dithering do/mean in astro terms? (I know what the word dither means, just can't relate it to the mechanics of the mount )
  5. Interesting. Never heard that expression before. Had all kinds of images flashing through my mind of coils and transformers etc. fitted to the bottom of my camera!
  6. Just had a read of that thread and bookmarked it in case of future urge to tinker. However, the cost of the camera in the shop compared to the one from Juan's website is not a great saving when taking into account the 5.5 hours (or more) it will take me to do the mod myself. Best left to the experts I think.
  7. The camera will only be used for AP. I have an unmodded 1300D that will be left intact for daytime use. Is it easy?
  8. Yeah, the only difference to the entire texts are the word 'astro' substituted for 'baader'. To be honest, I've read this thread numerous times and the only thing I know for certain is I've saved £60
  9. You and me both my friend! This makes perfect sense to my confused brain.
  10. Thanks all for your replies. Looks like asking the question saved myself £60, remind me I owe you a pint when we meet at an astro party somewhere!
  11. Thanks for the response. So what you're saying, looking at the picture below, I can save myself £60 and go for the £399 one and it will work ok?
  12. Hi all As the title suggests, what is the difference between the two and what is better for AP? The camera will never be used for anything other than AP if that makes a difference. Thanks for looking. Pete.
  13. Well that makes things easier. Saves me choosing. I'll have the Startravel 80 this week (see you Friday FLO ) then I'll grab one of these in April when they're back in stock.
  14. I'm very interested in the answer to this question as the StarTravel-80 is on my list of things to pick up this week. Now I'm torn between the two!
  15. Hi all, Late comer to the conversation. I won't go into details however recently my cousin was given one of these certificates of a star named after our other cousin. Needless to say, when I checked it out, the number they reference is a galaxy, not a star. Is it a scam? I suppose some will say yes, others, no. I have a little saying which I believe is very apt in this scenario as I know we'll probably never see that 'star' however my cousin takes great comfort looking up knowing it's there. It is what it is...
  16. My first attempts. Orion Nebula. (excuse the telephone line in the photo, I didn't realise as I couldn't see it in the EP.) Pics were around 15/20 second exposures hence you can see the rotation as I'm not tracking. Probably not a DSO however I did see a shooting star whizz through the EP as I was in the process of a 15 second exposure! (see the stripe just left of centre - the star Deneb if I'm correct - if comparing these two images.) Anyways, that's mine effort. In time I hope to capture and produce something like the images posted above my post. Amazing images! Peace and clear skies! Pete.
  17. Thank you The Warthog. A really informative article and very easy to understand. Makes choosing my next eyepiece(s) a little easier.
