  1. What is the spacing on the scope dovetail, between the mounting holes, is it 60mm, as mine are and the Primalucelab ones are only 55mm or do you only use one bolt in the centre..? i use two bolts but need some spacers with a 60mm spacing...
  2. Well that’s not the best design I have ever seen for fastening a scope foot mount... good luck what do you do about the holes once removed, as stray light would enter...??
  3. How long was the exposure as it looks like bad PA alignment....?
  4. Nice buy, the Atik 383, you will be pleased with that...better than the ASI1600 in my opinion.... :)

  5. Yes that’s exaclty how I used to do it with my rpi3, but I now use a Linux Ubuntu laptop, with it.. so even though I have no need for this ATM, I can see it will be very useful for many people... so how does yours differ from this one, as I used in a similar way to yours on windows..it tricked the PC in thinking it was searching online, it says its for SGPro but will work with Kstars / Ekos. http://adgsoftware.com/ansvr/
  6. Ah, got you now, yes I used to use a windows laptop to control my system and had to use the online solver then, or the one that mimics the online one provided with INDI, so this new one would mean that on windows it will now work like it does with Linux and can be installed in the same way, so as not to need the Internet at all..correct....? forgive me I am a bit slow...
  7. So, I have a Linux laptop with Kstars and EKos, and have downloaded all the Astrometry catalogue files I need for my FOV’s onto my PC so I don’t need to use the online solver, so works faster for me, wil this be of use to me or not..?
  8. Because they are a raw untouched stacked image, which is what you need when moving to another programme, you don’t want any changes that DSS makes applied to the image, you want all the data to work with, like I said before DSS is excellent at stacking, but not much good at anything else..
  9. Why would you loose 4 bits, my DSS outputs a 32bit autosave file that I use in PS, then save as 16bit...then nothing at all is lost during the transfer...but I use a 16bit camera you can do all the stretching and linear curves you like in PS, on the full data set, don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to do that...DSS is superb at stacking, but then I output the finished autosave stack untouched to PS and do all the work there...works for me..
  10. You are welcome to disagree as long as I can too... you need all the data there for moving into PS, so there is no need to do any changes in DSS as they will be gone when you embed the changes but do not apply them, if you so apply, you will clip the data...
  11. Make sure the box is checked that says “embed changes but do not apply them” as this will clip all the data, you want all the info there to take to PS or similar for further processing, but don’t do anything with DSS other than stacking, as it’s useless for anything else.. HTH,
  12. I have guided my SCT at 1500mm focal length with an 80mm guidescope, no problem....I have never used an OAG..
  13. I assumed the only way to focus the OAG is to move the Lodestar closer or further away from prism....so if no adjustment on OAG to move Lodestar then you will need spacers..or an adjustable spacer..
  14. Hmmm, I have those and mine all run automatically, and have done since installed, so not sure what to say really as it’s not something I did, it’s just worked from the start.....sorry can’t be more help
  15. I think my version of Ubuntu mate is 15...something....only installed a month or two ago..
  16. I know this is an old thread, but I am now using an rpi3 to control all my kit, and Indi library and Kstars / Ekos for my deep sky imaging, but wanted a Linux based software for planetary work and came across this...so firstly would this suit my needs, secondly, as I am fairly new to Linux, how would I go about loading and using on my Ubuntu mate based rpi3... Many thanks
  17. Wow, that’s a good one.... thought the prices I found on eBay were bad....
  18. And another... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sky-Watcher-EvoGuide-50ED-50mm-ED-Guidescope/192454314128?epid=6014815914&hash=item2ccf2bc890:g:wosAAOSwfpBagaQ2
  19. Do people really get away with these prices, just because stock is low.... check out the name of the store too..... unbelievable... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sky-Watcher-EvoGuide-50ED-50mm-ED-Guidescope/142690358857?epid=6014815914&hash=item2139021649:g:LMcAAOSwXtNahJgJ
  20. I was under the impression, that version of the Idas filter has been around for sometime...or is it a new version of the older D2 model...?
  21. I think so, see @JohnSadlerAstro he has recently done the mod, and found it quite straight forward, he has made a thread on it..
  22. Yes you can save that £60... as for the rest, the normal Astro mod as I call it, which you will be getting with the camera you link to, will not have any blurring and can be used with Autofocus with a lens, because the guy at cheapasteophotography, Juan, shims the sensor to counteract the removal of the filter to regain auto focus, he does this as part of the filter removal mod on the cameras before he sells them. Now if you were to do the mod yourself you would not do that, hence having a blurry image when using autofocus after the camera Astro mod, but only with a camera lens, not using a telescope... HTH
  23. It doesnt blur the image, persay, the reason for a slightly out of focus image after the mod is only with autofocus using a lens, as this will be slightly out due to a piece of glass being removed from the imaging train, but with a telescope not at all an issue...
  24. @PhotoGav a little off topic, but would you mind me asking about your website, which is excellent I must say, what site did you use and what theme, as I love the simplistic yet perfect layout, it just works, and am thinking of creating one for my astro journey. Or did you build from scratch using HTML.... sorry for the off topic question..
