  1. From the album: PESKYWAABBITS DSO's

Took this November 2017, IR modified Canon 1000D with Skywatcher 200P mounted on a HEQ5.
  2. Yeah I'm glad you guys do think the same. Will have to invest in one. Cheers mateys!
  3. Every pair i've owned has come with this tiny thin strap which is super uncomfortable and I don't think brands put much thought into peoples necks when they throw a neck strap in the bundle last minute. Do you guys buy a camera neck strap to replace yours? If you do replace yours, do you have any recommendations for some based mainly on comfort?
  4. This is a similar thing I was concerned about. I'm now on the lookout for my first house and I always wanted to have my own observatory. One main requirement is some dark sky out in the sticks so I was just wondering if it's even going to be possible to get long exposure shots at low iso's in the near future. Was shooting the M81 and M82 at 1600ISO for 600s recently and didn't have a single problem with satellites for a good 4 hours. I assume this will all change soon.
  5. So I haven't delved much into the issue but I was curious. Does anyone have any idea of exposure times we'd realistically get when they put up all the 12,000 SpaceX Starlink satellites up in the sky before one was within a single light frame? Cheers!
  6. So I take photos using BYEOS with my Canon DSLR. I have a Altair Astro guide camera hooked up to PHD2 which is plugged into the HEQ5 mount to correct for guiding. I have read about plate solving and I was curious. Does plate solving ONLY gives you the ability to get into the same place as a previous night by giving your EQMOD the right data to allow for easier multiple night data stacking and is not for guiding or part of the guiding mechanism itself. Say I want to start trying this plate solving malarky. Would I: Setup my scope, Polar align, 3 star align, Plate solve using a photo from my DSLR and not my Guide cam? and then continue to use PHD with guide cam to guide? Any replies are much appreciated.
  7. I think I need to get myself one of these... It looks great!
  8. I've just re-uploaded my first astrophotography YouTube video. Thanks to people pointing out the issues and now we've got a more refined video for you all. Please let me know on what to improve if you could :)

Nice video! I have to say my total fav part was the part about your Kick butt power supply you made. It’s huge i have to say, but it gets the job done, and making it out of a toolbox, so darn neatly, was BRILLIANT!!.

       love that power supply!

  9. It's time to start a YouTube channel. I've been running a YouTube channel about video gaming for a few years now and I have always had the urge to start making videos about my adventures with my astrophotography hobby. So I've finally bitten the bullet and given it a go and uploaded my first video, lets see how this goes.

    Messier 31

    From the album: PESKYWAABBITS DSO's

Messier 31. 6 x 160s @ 1600iso. My best so far but still room to improve. For some reason the quality appears on this uploaded version is not great, sorry.

    Pesky's DIY projects

Just a few photos of my DIY projects, Astro related of course!
  13. The final tinkering of my portable power supply is afoot. Very happy with how it came out so far. Still some things to finish off. May make a post solely about it soon so people can use it to make their own one. :-)

    M27-NGC6853

    From the album: PESKYWAABBITS DSO's

My first planetary nebula, M27/NGC-6853. I know there is some room for improvement, but the clouds rolled in. Very happy with this so far from my unmodified 1000D. Bring on the winter months
  15. Amazing Perseid meteor shower this year. Makes me want to make a meteor cam for next year.

Shame the moons on the rise to ruin it all!

  16. From the album: PESKYWAABBITS DSO's

So this was my first galaxy i've photographed, Messier 81. It consisted of only 5 light frames by my OTA was about to come into contact with my mount so I had to stop! This was with a stock Canon 1000D and Skywatcher 200p on a HEQ5 pro using an Altair gpcam. It can only get better from here!
  17. M81 the other day on my stock Canon 1000D & 200p. Only 5 light frames as the wind picked up.

Very happy with the outcome :)

       Nice result. Well done! :)

  18. After years of being convinced by peoolethat my Canon 1000D had no live view mode,  by a happy accident today I have discovered it. This will surely help my astrophotography now ☺.

Bring on the the next clear sky!

      Never believe the naysayers. :wink2:

Always research and don't take the first answers.

      Good luck with the imaging.

  19. Hi Dreek, What a fantastic project you've been working on! I love the whole idea and I'm sure it will get the minds of the kids engaged. I just hope the skies remain clear for you in Sunny Suffolk. I'm from just outside Bury St Edmunds myself and I'm looking out for an astronomy club to get involved with. I would have though there would be one in Bury but so far I've learned there isn't. If this would be a club that not only children could attend I would be very much interested. Keep up the great work buddy, looks amazing!
  20. I think I'm in the same boat mate, I look forward to seeing the moon pictures! XD If the clouds don't go away. I may have to construct one of these balloons to even get an entry!
  21. This is such a great idea but unless the clouds don't sort themselves out soon, nobody will have any entries!
  22. Looking for a Mono auto guiding CCD that will work rigged up to my raspberry PI so preferably USB 2.0.

    I'm after either a ZWO ASI120 or a QHY5L-II MONO
