  1. And here it is...! Wish you could all be here for this - might have had to go out for more coffee and cakes, but what the hey - over to the other thread!
  2. I don't quite recall why I assumed it didn't...maybe I read it somewhere, or I just imagined it - getting older, don't mind me... We'll know soon, anyway...!
  3. Lens cap for my new Borg 71FL, which also arrives today... The branding seemed appropriate, as Canon reportedly makes the fluorite objective for it.
  4. I also have both the Canon IS 10x30 and the 15x50. A joy to use.
  5. It just seems to work, after the usual alignment.
  6. Looking forward to report on how it performs with the Mak.
  7. Got this setup for dad-in-law. Our friends at FLO supplied bins (Pentax WP 20x60), finder and bracket. Gitzo GH2720QR head and TS photo tripod. He uses it for astro and for birding. Couldn't be happier.
  8. It's been a while since I had this one out.
  9. In my own experience, FLO is first class. I have ordered several items from them, including a scope, bins and eyepieces and have always been given the care and attention one looks for. I give FLO my full recommendation. If they have what you're looking for, do not hesitate and order with confidence.
  10. ...and yet another very fine bit, delivered today having been well looked after and scrupulously packaged by yet another SGL friend named Paul. I now have two of these, as it gives me 120x with the TV-85 for nice crisp planetary views, and one for in the travel bag with the TV-60 for a nicely framed view of the Moon's disk. Also with grateful thanks, this time to @martindale, another true gent.
  11. Just another bit of very nice Japanese glass, this one pre-loved and superbly packaged by Paul. With grateful thanks to @FenlandPaul - a true gent.
  12. With grateful thanks to Peter for an excellent job of packaging and shipping, I am ready for an O-III shootout between Lumicon and Astronomik. I have read accounts of this one being used as a "do it all" filter, so it should be interesting. If so, it will be a prime candidate for my airline travel kit.
  13. On Jupiter again. Will never tire of this.
  14. I'm fine, really. The path I'm on is better value for my money than mental health care. I've responded much better to the green letter treatment than to any of the others. I can almost come out in daylight, now. P.S. Only ridiculing myself, here.
  15. Here's a list which I copied into SkySafari. It's the Astronomical League's Double Star Program, see: Double Star Program Double Star Program.skylist
  16. I appreciate the sentiment, and there's profound truth to that - but we've done alright, actually. Admittedly a glass-half-full thing, but that's just me.
  17. After using it a while, I still think it's awesome - and perfect for me, as it's an ideal way to over-mount a TV-85 (a heavy scope for what it is, a mere 85/600 APO doublet). Anyone considering it should keep in mind that it's basically a reworked GM8 - in other words, think of which EQ mount you would choose for your scope, a GM8 or a GM11. If the GM8 would suffice, then this is your alt-az mount. If you would really need the GM11 for your scope, then adjust your expectations accordingly. Also factor in your own personal fussiness with regard to how solidly mounted the scope should be; what's fine for some will be marginal or even intolerable for others. If your Ercole or Sabre or SkyTee is getting it done for you, but you want slo-mo or perhaps less of what the SkyTee occasionally seems to offer, the AZ8 is hard to ignore. Conversely, if it seems like an extravagance, it probably is. Mine sure seems like one, and it's delicious.
  18. Well, I like it a lot - and it definitely sinks any residual hope I had for ever figuring out what dobs are about.
  19. Susie has exceptional powers not to be discussed here. We'll see.
  20. Does sound like fun. Still wary, but appreciative.
