This was done along the road by my house as well. They certainly do illuminate the road better. Unfortunately, they also create more glare from my viewing area in the barnyard behind my house. There are two of them I can't occlude by  setting up in a spot that has a tree or other obstruction between me and them.

LEDs worked for me. Lost two very annoying high pressure sodiums, got nicely shielded LEDs instead. Hope it works for you!

My backgarden is a lot darker since the lights were changed in the streets surrounding.

I've heard that you can't filter that type of light, but I don't notice it.

Love to say my imaging has improved but I need the weather to improve first !

  2. Powerful vacuum cleaner ban... It sucks!

  6. Following on from my update of 22.08.2014 on vacuum cleaners and hair-driers, I see that toasters are next... crumbs! followed by kettles and lawn-mowers!

      ronin

Kettles seem a little pointless, the heat input is well defined to boil water, maybe the way they transfer heat is inefficent, whereas you can vacuum with 200W or 1800W or 1600W. Can see their point as the main advertising of many items is simply a bigger motor and more wattage.

  7. Is it me, but does Lenny147 spend more time underground than on top of it? - BTW if you are reading this Lenny147, no offence, you do great photos in the 'most' unusual of places!

I have come across this before Philip.
A chap had a scope and GP mount on eBay a while back, listed as GPDX.  It was a GP mount.
Confused as the instruction manual say Geat Polaris / GPDX mount.
So he read it as a GPDX also call Great Polaris/GPDX.

  11. Another alt-az mount incoming... Thank you @heliumstar
