As per the title, is the asi071 camera a worthy purchase today? Looking at the specs it's kind of older tech when compared to the 2600 but half the price. There doesn't appear to be much choice in aps c size sensors . Any thoughts from the forum or anyone using the camera. Thanks

Thank you all for your replies, it is mounted using an SX midi filter wheel so is as near as it will get. I think it is less than 31mm. Money does not allow me to upgrade to a larger sensor camera and really struggled with collimation, tilt and a general lack of time to fettle the scope last year

Hello folks, I’m after some advice on the minimum filter size for a Sharpstar 13028hnt paired with an sx694 camera? On reading up on f ratio to filter size I believe my current 1.25” filters will be to small. Thank you

Ah thanks, yes it has the correct focal length and guide camera pixel size. Another daft question but which numbers do you go by, the number in brackets or the first number?

I moved to Nina from apt before the latter had the autofocus capability. I won’t go back now it is excellent. I am still using version 1.10 as I found the nightly builds a bug fest.

Hi folks, I’m sure this is a simple question for many people. How do I convert total rms error from my phd graph to meaningful error in arc seconds? Thus allowing me to compare it to the imaging cam imaging scale. Thank you

I don’t think so, I started with a 72ED with the same camera and have progressed to a GT71. It was still the same. I thought it might be over saturation and or the high pixel count that is causing it. I found it annoying as it is very difficult to determine correct focus

If I recall, the spikes looked straight when checked with my nb filters but with rgb filters the spikes would look wonky.

I had the exact same issue with my 183mm although it is a Altair camera. I never got to the bottom of it and now use an electronic focuser.

He has had my mount for 15 weeks now. Emails rarely answered, managed to speak with him 3 weeks ago and was told my mount was ready and just needed testing. I sent an email a couple of days ago asking for an update and no reply. Why advertise 4/5 turn around when he must know this won’t happen. I’ll be ringing tomorrow and if I don’t get answer I’ll be requesting a refund. I hope his work is better than the customer service.

Hi folks, I see there is a lot of discussion on here regarding different manufactures of filter but my question is are the new 3.5 nm filters worth the extra £££££ over the cheaper 6nm filters? I am looking to upgrade my cheap Oiii filter which is giving very bad halos. Thanks

I was just checking my images, it’s the first time I’ve used fits lib and thought oh why is it showing clipped pixels. I was looking at the linear histogram and thinking the offset is set to low. It has come about from trying different exposures and gains and want to make sure I have enough offset when I start changing gain values

Thanks for that, it is a raw image. I will check the associated dark subs I have taken. What should the background level be set to? I think fit lib is on default settings

Hi folks, please help. I am experimenting with fits liberator to find the correct offset for my camera. This is a screen shot of an image using the default gain and offset. The blue dots as i understand it are showing the clipped black pixels.So am i correct in thinking I need a higher offset? I believe i do especially when looking at the histogram. Could someone with experience of this confirm. Thanks in advance
