  1. Thanks ‘Rusted’, very kind of you to comment. Clear skies and good health to you… D
  2. Set up a bit earlier than the day before, first image recorded by 7.24am (BST) Basler '174' > Quark > TEC140 > Baader D-ERF. AS!2 > ImPPG > Ps. Captured in Basler's Pylon on Mac. All images, best 100 frames from 3000. Mono 12P, 110fps, Full disk images flat frame (bag) calibrated. 0.29"/Pixel. Guided by an Hinode Solar Guider. To start (for reference), the closest (by UT/GMT time) GONG image. I often find the Australian one the best and this was their nearest recorded without cloud. Damian Main Spot / AR2842, 7.24 BST, 8000ms Smaller spot / AR2845 below centre, 7.26 BST,8000ms Last for now, the most recent spot rotating into view down on the lower left / AR2844, 7.30 BST, 8000ms Have some more of the same to check through later. Didn't think the seeing was as good as Saturday, but these have turned out pretty OK. From Spaceweather:
  3. A comprehensive data set David. Early results from my own session today would second your opinion, that seeing wasn't as good as yesterday - pity as I got myself sorted an hour earlier, despite a lack of sleep due to this ruddy weather - (too hot, too cloudy, etc, etc...) never happy, hey! Damian
  4. A whole month since my last solar imaging session Set up by 8.20am (BST) Basler '174' > Quark > TEC140 > Baader D-ERF. AS!2 > ImPPG > Ps. Captured in Pylon. All images, best 100 frames from 3000. Mono 12P, 110fps, Full disk images flat frame (bag) calibrated. 0.29"/Pixel. Guided by an Hinode Solar Guider. Presented full size, warts and all (just stacking cropped) ! Closest (by UT/GMT time) GONG image first for reference. Damian Main Spot / AR2842, 8.21 BST, 6500ms Disturbed region to the left of AR2842, 8.26 BST, 6500ms Small spot below centre, 8.30 BST, 6500ms Lower right disturbed region and small prom, 8.33 BST, 6500ms New Spot / AR2844, 8.35 BST, 7500ms Spaceweather have a piece on the above "High Latitude" spot - screen grab attached: Large faint receding prom - upper right, 8.38 BST, 10,000ms Before you go... for perhaps the more experience Quark imager.... what is the bright 'arch' artefact above the prom on the image above..? I can see it 'rotate' as I scan around the solar edge and the as I slew the scope to the opposite side, it disappears.... reflection...? Put a towel over the Quark/camera to check for light leaks... didn't remove it... Anyway, still processing (and watching the WEC 6hrs of Monza race), from yesterday and pre-processing today's images (got out a tad earlier this morning to miss the heat of the day). Will add to this thread later then if any other data-sets prove successful.... More Added: Large faint receding prom - upper right, 9.14 BST, 16,000ms (so blown the surface detail out!) / 62 fps A close-up of those filaments (the inner two) at roughly 10.30/11 o'clock on the GONG image, 9.41 BST, 6500ms Main Spot / AR2842, 8.46 BST, 6500ms (cropped)
  5. I'm just processing now... (watching the WEC 6hrs of Monza!).... thankfully my (home) office is north facing, so there's still cool air coming in from the window.... Will look forward to comparing results later then.... if the rum hasn't taken effect.... or perhaps a Pimms (or two)! 😀🍹🌞 D
  6. A nice record of a great day! Yesterday was sweltering ☀️🥵, did you manage a session as well..? I got out myself a tad earlier this morning just to get some data in the bag before the heat became too much… Damian
  7. Rest of the 'interesting features' on today's Sun - see GONG image above as reference! Firstly that small prom on the upper left: 3.04pm. Best 100 frames from 3000. Mono 12P, 110fps, 7000ms. 0.29"/Pixel. Inverted: Next the Proms to the upper right quadrant.... For the life of me, Ps won't stitch the ruddy things, so will have to try this 'AutoStitch' at some stage... 3.05pm. Best 100 frames from 3000. Mono 12P, 110fps, 6000ms. 0.29"/Pixel. Inverted: Just below the above image... 3.07pm. Best 100 frames from 3000. Mono 12P, 110fps, 6000ms. 0.29"/Pixel. Inverted: Lastly, the large prom at the bottom right. 3.10pm. Best 100 frames from 3000. Mono 12P, 110fps, 6000ms. 0.29"/Pixel. ...and the inverted: All processed from a single exposure. Damian
  8. Got home early and put the gear out. Seeing not great, so sat and waited to press the record button! Plenty to have a look through now and later.... First one from today - 2.54pm Basler '174' > Quark > TEC140 > Baader D-ERF. AS!2 > ImPPG > Ps. Best 100 frames from 3000. Mono 12P, 110fps, 5000ms. Flat frame calibrated. 0.29"/Pixel. Damian Inverted: GONG image for ref:
  9. Stonkingly good - that edge detail and granulation, super stuff.... 🌞 D
  10. Very nice... I quite like the muted originals (and what Rusted did to them as well), as they look like how I imagine the sun might appear from the porthole on my spaceship! D
  11. Very quick session, cloud encroached and within 10 minutes of seeing them, poof, they were gone.... Wide 10.48pm: Nikon D3 and Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8mm @ 22mm. ISO200 1.6sec @ f/2.8. Tripod, shutter release cable, mirror lock-up. NEF file processed in Lightroom. Close-up 10.55pm: Nikon D3 and Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8mm @ 190mm. ISO200 2.5sec @ f/2.8. Tripod, shutter release cable, mirror lock-up. NEF file processed in Lightroom. Damian
  12. Just one for tonight... those proms on the upper left. Imaged at 9.02am Best 100/3000 @ 7000ms Mono12P 110fps Inverted:
  13. That’s a great overview of the day. I’m like you, like a kid in a sweet shop, image of this and that and one of them, oooh and over there! I want to settle on one thing next time (if I can!) and try imaging that for a few hours and then try an animation - the next goal to aspire to! From the quality of your images, looks like seeing came back for you. D
  14. Not bad at all Dave.... agree about the seeing... that blue sky had such potential, just a pity it didn't live up to it, hey!? D
  15. AR2827 and its wake... 8.46am 100/3000 frames Inverted:
  16. That's come out rather well. Like your 'copper' colour palette as well. D
  17. Out and imaging early this morning by 7.53 as the wife said we would be "out by 11.15" and I'd rather not have a thick ear! Beautiful clear sky but it soon became apparent that seeing was off. Suppose the TEC140 is more susceptible than the smaller TSA102 that I used last year... Results from first few runs disappointing, so this is the first that I deemed half decent - captured at 8.12am Will add more later, but to start, the 'New Spot', or AR2829. Looking like a Beatle... or house spider or something (bright arch the body with legs out of each side)... or perhaps it's just me (too much sun) ! Best 100 frames from 3000. Flat frame calibrated. 0.29"/Pixel. Basler '174' > Quark > TEC140 > Baader D-ERF. AS!2 > ImPPG > Ps. Inverted: GONG image for ref: Damian
  18. Nice set of images. My first one was decidedly woeful (seeing wasn't great despite getting out early) and I'm running out of time to process another now - off for a friend's (socially distanced), 50th at 4.30.... back at work Monday... could do with another week off just to process the back-log!!! Enjoy crunching through the data! D
  19. Super, glad it was of use! Great image by the way... D
  20. FlightRadar24 should be able to give you such flight details....
  21. Nicely done again Rusted! I was out earlier, seeing was reasonable around 8.30, but really went off a cliff around 10. Had to go out at 11, but the cloud was incoming anyway, so hope to get chance to process later - will once agin be using these as reference, thanks! D
  22. ‘Sails’, did I call them that as well on the file I uploaded..? That’s what I called them in the folder the data downloaded to! Looked just like little dinghies out on the sea. You should post - add ‘em here if you wish, with a time stamp - a useful comparison! D
  23. Yes, you are correct - still lots to learn! Thanks for the positive image comments as well. 👍
