  1. The benefits of dark skies, a permanent setup, excellent imaging equipment, doing this for a job and oodles of experience. Doesn't notice much lol. A sublime M78.
  2. Another beauty, Gronan. I feel like I really need some IFN in my life after seeing your images.
  3. That 10 F7 truss has a hell of a reach on it! Cracking image!
  4. That's a hell of an image, Olly! The detail in De Mairan's nebula (M43) and throughout the image is fantastic.
  5. Never seen this one before but what a thing of beauty. I'm blown away by it, it's literally blown my socks off and taken the wind out of my sails. 😋 Amazing image!
  6. I agree with Tomato. For only two hours that's a great image and lots of detail too. And congrats on the upgrade
  7. Those bok globules look superb, cracking image! I haven't used NINA yet but I'm thinking about giving it a go.
  8. A lovely image of M82 which clearly shows the hydrogen filaments. Quite amazing given how cheap the PDS130 is. Do you use a CC on this scope and have you had any problems correcting coma?
  9. Yep, that's a pretty impressive jellyfish. An excellent result for only a second attempt at an SHO with OSC data.
  10. An incredible find in a great image. I'm surprised it doesn't look more pixelated at such a close crop.
  11. That old nag is certainly holding it's own in this image! Lovely detail and nicely processed.
  12. The new version is most certainly a huge improvement over the original. It's an absolutely cracking image, Rodd.
  13. The contrast gives it a nice depth of field. Very nice Ha Christmas tree nebula.
  14. 19 hours well spent because that's a cracking M1!
  15. That's an incredible M81. The full resolution image is superb, and beautifully processed too. Your newt looks to be extremely well collimated.
  16. Thank you I'm thankful that I got anything at all. When I started binning subs I thought I was going to have to bin them all. NXT and BXT helped a lot with processing.
  17. This is two hours and five minutes of 300sec subs at ISO800, through a Sightron Dual-band filter on a Nikon D5300 and a Evostar72 with a 0.8 reducer. I was hoping to get 5hrs but ended up with 2hrs because the guide camera decided it didn't want to play ball. Stacked in DSS, processed with PI, tweaked in PS. A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
  18. Well, I spent so much time wishing it would stop raining and now it's toooooooo darn hot hottest month in 133years!!! What's an astrophotographer to do? -  make a freaking DSLR cooling system, that's what!!!

  19. I like all the options that are available with NB, my next investment will be a CCD I think, if PI doesn't tip me over later. I'm on the 14th floor in the middle of a city with only a west facing view. The reason for the 7nm was so that I can image off the balcony, the IDAS light pollution filter just didn't cut it in the middle of the city lol. But it's great when I go to my usual observation site. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope you get decent weather for your OIII data. And I'll look forward to seeing how this image evolves.
  20. I've never imaged using full NB, I have a 7nm HA filter, but I'm imaging with a dslr so it's not ideal. I can imagine with all the options available it must be tough choosing a combo that you like. When you get the OIII will you remap all the colours or just add the data to a different Chanel ?
  21. Plenty of detail, and an interesting colour combo ..will you add any more colour or have you finished it?
  22. I love the summer days but the nights have been far to cloudy...Roll on Winter and clear cold skies!!!

  23. Good stuff, 20 mins of 15sec exposures worked well through your dob. Seems like you nailed it.
  24. wishing the rain would go away!

    1. David Smith

      David Smith

+1 for that. Too much gloom!
