      I believe your best bet would be to looking finding an astronomy-club in your local area. Here's one link that will help you find one that's closest to you:

      Thanks for asking! Astronomy-Clubs often have nights scheduled for when their members are encouraged to bring a telescope and gather in a dark-sky location - which clubs have found and maintain for these "Star-Parties" - to let other members try their equipment and discuss topics of mutual interests. I'm sure you'll be welcome to come and pick their brains!
