  1. Thanks Ian I had to mask in the bubble from a previous part of the process as it has lost some of the details as I had pushed the outer gas I think this re-introduced data gave it that 3d look? anyway, Thanks for taking the time to comment Bryan
  2. Thanks Tomato I appreciate the input and the kind words I love my lx200 and the Starizona flattener/ reducer has given it a new lease of life! Thanks again Bryan
  3. Thanks AMcD I’m not sure about skill, and I would probably struggle to reproduce the same workflow! I was lucky with the weather and brutal with the frame selection not to mention 40hrs of data! I am looking forward to getting up and running with the 268 but I cannot afford the astrodon or Chroma filters What filters do you use? Thanks Bryan
  4. Thanks Gorann Great Apod! Have you had any more? There was a bit of topaz denoise, but I didn’t go higher than 1 on the scale Most of the “sharpening” was in photoshop using soft light with high pass filter then deduce the opacity down below 30% then repeat if necessary, this is done on individual stacks on starless stacks The seeing was exceptional on a couple of nights, and I was brutal with my sub selection rejecting anything with the slightest star bloat or movement Thanks again Bryan
  5. Hi Starfolk! I Can't look at this any longer! I've been working on this since July, part of my "close up" season. I've been gathering data when possible with a Meade Lx200 OTA, not the ideal imaging scope but when paired with the Starizona LF field flattener/ focal reducer seems to give pleasing results. This image has around 40hours of data, a mixture of ha sii Oii with some rgb thrown in for some star colour I seem to have a habit of pushing my data too far, I really need to find a new work flow but I've spent far too much time staring at this image and have to put it to bed for now until I learn new skills! The image was taken with my trusty Atik460 with astrodon filters amazingly handled by my AZEq6 mount that astounds me that it can handle this weight and guide sometimes as low as 0.4! I have a new (to me anyway) camera, a QHY 268m which I have yet to use, mainly due to my lack of 2" filters to fit the QHY filter wheel and the fear of new software and processing considerably larger files however I am looking forward to the challenge! I am including an image I produced a month ago which I was pleased with but realised I had gone overboard with the processing Anyway, here is the data Here is the previous version Thanks for looking! Bryan
  6. Rodd sorry but I’m struggling to interpret this sentence? ”When I registerthe TOA 130 image to the C11 image, this ironing in a bit on the TOA image, there is no question the C11 image is superior” Could you please clarify? Cheers Bryan
  7. Hi Rodd I can’t advise sorry, all I can do is admire your result! Beautiful, just beautiful, great processing too Thanks for sharing Bryan
  8. I’m currently imaging with your old 460!! What does that make me?? 😂
  9. That’s stunning and only 3 hours 20min!! Wow! Thanks for sharing Bryan
  10. Very nice David you say “overcooked” I don’t agree, believe me, at the moment I feel like the king of overcooking and this is sautéed gently by comparison! I haven’t returned to M31 for years as I find it a sod to process, and in my humble opinion you’ve done a lovely job here! I personally like v1 better, probably the tone, but I really can’t comment from from a position of authority on this, it’s just my preference are you still using the big Atik camera? Thanks for sharing Bryan
  11. Thanks for your help Badger! have you ever dismantled the central “spigot” to reveal the bearings etc? Cheers Bryan
  12. Hi Starpeople! I have bought a second hand qhy filter wheel that has an issue It is the QHYCFW3L-SR 7 position 2” filter wheel I knew there was an issue with this filter wheel, a problem that is caused by the centre screw on the back that you aren’t supposed to adjust This screw tightens or loosens when the wheel turns resulting in the wheel locking up or becoming so loose the wheel wobbles and catches against the case I have contacted qhy and been told to use thread lock I just want to know if this screw normally turns with the wheel or if it’s static? If anyone here with a qhy wheel has noticed this I would really appreciate the information Many thanks Bryan
  13. Simply Gorgeous! 🤗 Thanks for sharing your hard work! Bryan
  14. Nice job! you have to be happy with that considering the lunar phase! What camera are you using? cheers Bryan
  15. Hey MarsG76! What software/s did you use to process this epic mosaic? Cheers Bryan
  16. You’ve got some lovely Data there Rodd I like the second one, You’ve brought the details out in a natural way, The version I’m working on is so over processed by comparison, I think I need to go back to the beginning and start again! I really like your work Well done And thanks for sharing Bryan
  17. Thanks CCD-Freak! I have plans to attach a more suitable camera to it and get more data Btw, you have a serious looking mount there!! 😜 Thanks again Bryan
  18. Really nice work Rodd! I captured a similar image last year with my 12 inch Meade lx200 (not ACF) with 6.3 focal reducer too late in the season to get the rest! Since then I’ve been working on a bin2 sho version with an Atik 460 and 0.7 Starizona reducer/flattener There’s quite a lot of Sii in the region and the bubble itself is rich on oiii. It’s worth the time! Thanks for sharing Bryan
  19. Hi Starfolk! I bought a second hand SharpStar 15028hnt from UKABS, I have several scopes and have been imaging for many years now but this is the first time I have used an imaging reflector On the 29th of June I took it camping to one of my favourite local(ish) dark skies, not that the sky gets dark at that time of year, a campsite outside of Keswick. The skies were clear on the first night I managed to get 80min of 5 min ha and 60min of 5min Oiii with my atik 460 I was going to gather more data over the next clear night but totally screwed up the collimation and didn't have the correct tools with me to correct this! 😠 I don't normally work with just H+O but that's all I had so here is my first HOO image I really needed a bit more data, and my processing is 'basic' Anyway, enough of the excuses, here is the image of a small section of the Cygnus wall Thanks for looking Bryan and a starless version And a desaturated version...
  20. Epic work Gorann! It’s refreshing to see new images of objects “up there” that aren’t the usual targets I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of less imaged nebulosity from you with that photon sucking rig! Thanks for sharing Bryan
