Yes. Went with my local astronomy club a few years ago and found the whole complex very interesting (the JGT isn’t the only scope on the site) and peopled by highly approachable and informative scientists. Well worth a visit when possible again. 👍

Yes it would be suitable but you can buy a sheet of Baader solar film from FLO for less which we would be just as good.
