I don’t have a tracking mount so have no experience in that area but I’ve never been comfortable leaving my scope out unattended for any length of time. I’m pretty sure you won’t ‘use up’ the etalon but others more knowledgeable than I may be able to give a more definitive answer. That aside, I would/have always put a cover over the scope when I leave it for a bit … apart from any other considerations birds have no respect for expensive things, including cars and scopes! 😱😱 p.s. Glad you’ve got the wow! -
Collimator - not as hard as a thought it would be!

I know what you mean, and this will be of no consolation at all, but … I’ve seen worse. 😑 -
I seriously doubt that it will stop midge attacks. In fact, it might create a nice calm atmosphere for them to amass, muster and rally ranks for the feast! 🍽 😋 In my unfortunate experience it is the deepest folly to think that anything will outwit the determined midge. 😱😣 That said I’ve toyed with the idea of getting one of these pop-ups myself and I look forward to hearing how you get on with it, John (@laudropb).
