Yes equipment problems had the myself last night very frustrating especially when you get one of those rare clear nights. That seems to be the way with this hobby Dave

Thanks Merlin Will experiment with what gear I have but any thing I come up with can only be fixed via a mounting bar as the Lunt scope does not have a means of fixing to it with out fear of damage. Thanks again for the info.

I will be back viewing the sun again ( if it decides to show itself ) but will be doing it remotely. Have checked out my Lunt LS60 PT and found like others on the forum that the blue filter in the diagonal was cloudy. However an e mail to lunt who put me in contact with Bressner resulted in a new filter free of charge. Have fitted the scope to a vixen bar and tube rings allowing me to fit a skywatcher bracket and focus motor to the bar, did try another motor with drive wheels and belt but it was not smooth enough. Will be using a ASI178mm camera will be able to set up just outside my warm room so will be out of the direct sun myself. So looking forward to some activity this year. Would be interested if anyone has a better way to motorize the focuser that is not to expensive, have just ordered a new mount so astronomy fund is low.

Are LED Street lights not so bad after all?
mog3768 replied to HutchStar's topic in The Astro Lounge
When we moved to our present bungalow we had the old type street light outside it was quite bright I phoned the council and believe it or not they turned up the following day and fitted a shade. When it came to the light being changed to led they replaced the whole top of the light so of course we lost the shade. I again phoned the council this time they transfered my call to the light installers. They were very curteous and explained that the light were designed to just luminate the area benearh but realised that this did not all ways work and had ordered some shades and as soon as they were available they would fit one.True to there word a few weeks later it was fitted. I was surprised how small the shade was but the difference it make was quite impressive. -
Thanks Billhinge but deceiided to leave it as it is and buy a new mount when I have given it more thought.
