    WL Filters

I WL with my NP101 all the time, its a Petzval as well, never had any issue using the filters.
  2. A few astro goodies that I found under the Xmas Tree this year. A Baader Solar Filter from AstroZap for my Vixen A62SS refractor, a Celestron 30mm Ultima Edge and a Baader 5mm Hyperion for my 4 refractors. Does anyone else want to share their unexpected goodies from Sa.... ? PS : All types of gear is acceptable as there is no, that I could find, category for these general types of threads / posts as in CN !
  3. I had the older model Celestron 8-24 zoom with the chrome barrel which apparently was the better Celestron zoom, as a matter of fact I had 2. When I got into the Svbonys I sold the Celestrons.
  4. I went with the 7.2-21.6 Svbony zoom because it has a wider fov, works well. But I must admit I also have the Svbony 10-30 and 8-24 and they work just as well and all are solidly built. PS: And I have the Baader IV but for 3-4x the price it is no better in any way.
  5. Some time ago on a forum site, far far away when I pointed out the quality of Svbony products and their associated performances all round I was accused of working for them because all they were was a low life rebrander, it just wasn't possible. Now I wish I was on their payroll, lol ! They just keep rolling them out, its good to see this is just the latest. I own a lot of their products including 3 zooms other than this one and nothing has let me down yet and as a side benefit I have saved a lot of cash.
  6. I have one but have yet to use it under actual conditions but the price was sure right.
  7. And I just received a WL solar filter for it from AstroZap for Xmas to myself !
  8. I am not assuming the engineering is wrong, my experience tells me that with any issue a clarification of the exact concern is normally requested to precluded any ongoing issues. It should be a pretty fast resolution once the pertinent parties are involved and those that may be affected are satisfied. It saves a lot of.
  9. How about an explanation of what the numbers mean, a comparison if you will, at the bottom of the pages, for those that don't know when perusing to buy an ep. It may be important to an astronomer buying, in search of a new eyepiece.
  10. My point is / was is that on this sight and on CN this sort of thing is always being brought up by the same p****, its continual, it seems to be wide spread not just with your company.
  11. My how quickly things get done, get changed, get corrected when !
  12. Have a look at the Celestron Xcel-LX line, a great eyepieces for a great prices, for great views !
  13. I spent 42 yrs. in the transportation industry on some major designs so if you think numbers, its the scale of these errors, those developing these specs should check the numbers before it even gets to the proof readers stage because it is very hard to believe that many get through. In your example I would suggest the rational, the process, the whatever may have been wrong right from the start ? But I wouldn't know ! PS : I know any time I checked some one elses work, their numbers the number of errors were minimal. In these posts it seems that the vast majority are way off, really ! How do they stay in business because if they are wrong in this one small segment what else is screwed up ??
  14. Has anyone ever pointed these discrepencies, these errors out to these professionals for their purusal and explanation ? I am sure they would be receptive !
  15. Why do companies of that stature publish incorrect numbers that are that far off ? Surely they must know that some ........ will check them and will make sure the incorrect whatevers are brought out for all potential customers to see ? Especially if practically every measurement is wrong, it doesn't make sense or maybe ? What other industry, company does that with their products for the world to see ? This doesn't make sense or maybe ....... !
  16. I realize it may have limited use, a limited number of nites under limited conditions, on a limited number of objects but thats OK. Its all part of my ongoing self challenges, as always but other experiences are always appreciated for reference, always.
  17. Well I just ordered a little christmas gift from me to me ! With over $50 C off the normal price I couldn't help myself buying the 5mm Baader Hyperion from Santa, with my wifes approval of course. It will be used in my f5.4, 5.5, 8.4 and 11.4 refractors on those great nites / conditions. It completes my Morpheus / Hyperion collection. Any experienced astronomers with experience using this 5mm ep, pros or cons ?
  18. You are absolutely correct ! Just trying to keep the facts of that huge deviation accurate when it unfortunately happens and could affect the OP's search.
  19. All that should happen is that you pay the dealer their price, you pay the ship. cost at the same time and then anything else owing is paid at the other end before your goods are released ! Never had a non smooth transaction yet. Gary Russell will only ship his eps to a US address because of his isolated location and the travel required to fill out the declarations but I have it sent to a friend in Wisconsin and from there no problems.
  20. Don should not be authorized by any government in the world to collect any tax on their behalf, governments keep pretty tight controls on who collects what, you would have to be a huge registered company ie COSTCO, Amazon, eBay, etc.,etc.
  21. With all the thousands of $'s in dealings I have had over many years I find it very hard to believe there is much of a problem ! Some are just to ...... to do the declaration paper work, many times. It is pretty smooth unless the proper declaration is not completely detailed for customs purposes, that is where the final tax owing assessment is made ' at customs ', not by the seller.
  22. Why would most sellers hesitate to sell to Europe, as in Canada the seller shouldn't have to worry or get involved because normally customs does not release the item to the buyer until any accessed sales taxes are paid upon release ? Amazon / eBay is a different story due to their size, their sales volumes. Thats the reason for the customs declaration on the outside of the package clearly identifying the actual cost of the item(s) for tax purposes. All non paid but taxable items are also supposed to be declared at tax time up here in Canada but the amount, the cost of those items have to run into the high tens of thousands before they bother ie an in home seller business not the back and forths like most of us ! When I buy from Agena Astro, B&H, etc. they don't collect my Canadian sales tax, they leave it up to Customs on behalf of my government. If there is tax owing I have to either pick it up at a Canada Post outlet or sometimes pay it with debit machine at my door. Amazon or eBay do collect it through a legal agreement with the government incl. audits.
  23. Why not get a hold of the dealer and ask them to ask the builder ? I have one on the extension and you just have to reach a bit more or manually move it after backing off the tension a wee tiny bit, works great for me even with my 13lb. NP101.
  24. If there is damage you are worried about why don't you show some photos of it ?
