  1. The Starfield is a pretty nice scope, don't overlook it !
  2. Several years ago I had almost the full line up of LX's and 2x barlow, they put up great views in my 8-10 scopes but alas I up graded not because I had to but because I just wanted to so I sold them. For the price they are many times overlooked for their quality, their performance. And then I bought another LX 25mm, my smaller refractors couldn't live without it, they preferred it to my 24mm Panoptic, lol !
  3. I had an Eqinox 80 its all the capable scope you really need, unless like many of us you just want another scope, an excuse to tell the wife that you need one ! LOL !
  4. You can get bad in the best, always has been, always will be. We aren't talking rocket science or a voyage to the moon when we are out viewing, nite or day, just everday astronomy gear. For some, if you want a crayford attached its $300 more, wait till they are available, all cares and woes will be gone, lol. In my case I will just keep using my helicals. PS: I must be bored with all these clouds nite or day and the severe fridgid temps ie -35°.
  5. It looks like you have room for both, just like most of us !
  6. I finally found your thread in 'The Lounge Forum' from about 20 hours ago, nice post ! Clear Skies to you !
  7. The latest additions of both guides have been greatly expanded / updated.
  8. What a great looking scope ! The wall thickness of the tube looks 'thick' ? How are the views ? PS: I don't think you are detracting from this thread, just adding more info to it !
  9. Which section did you post it in ? It is hard to find the general discussion section in these forums or I just missed it ? I saw a thread in CN thats why I posted in these.
  10. Has the word got out, your way, the well known and liked and respected Canadian astronomer, writer, teacher, ap'er etc. Terrence Dickinson has passed away at age 79, I believe on Feb. 1st ? He was the author of NightWatch, co-author of the Backyard Astronomers Guide and many other authoritative astro books and magazines over many years. I do hope this is the right place to post this loss ?
  11. Out of interest can you sometime send us a pic or two of that 66mm TAL ?
  12. If I didn't own a Televue NP101 and was younger I would buy a Starfield, hands down. They are a pretty nice scope for the price.
  13. I can't believe some have so much problems / issues with helical focusers ? The several that I own work great once you get to know their workings but then again many want perfect but don't want to pay the cost, lol ! Nothing changes, lol !
  14. I did, I took the glass out of colored filter that I never used, screwed the housing on to the end of the diagonal and that gave me a perfect extension, works perfectly.
  15. With the 90mm Svbony not only are you getting a nice scope with great views and price but as a little bonus you pick up an additional 10mm of main objective and any increased views.
  16. Its a know fact by many 40mm owners that in order to get proper focus you have to draw the diagonal out of the focuser by about 1/2", then no problem with focus.
  17. That may be so but not with a no. 56-58 green filter at lower powers. With any of my solar scopes.
