  1. My 5" f6.6 scope and AZ5 mount weighed over 40lb, they definitely aren't gng !
  2. And ups the weight considerably, I wouldn't want to handle any more than my 127mm refractor unless permanently mounted or a lot younger than I am, lol !
  3. Not only is my name is on a 50 but I have just ordered the Dwarf also, will get it in a couple weeks. At some point I want to do a side by side comparison, hopefully by August when Sagittarius as at its prime !
  4. You will have to go through all that video to answer your ?'s. We are all new at this, no one will commit to answer, lol ! PS: But we progressives are very anxious about this new dawning on the horizon !
  5. Will try but right now the talk is all over the place, its hard to pick out worthwhile info. You know what it can be like, lol !
  6. Just use a no. 56-58 green filter, it works just as good as a continum at half the price, many do.
  7. So what, you asked and I told you what I have and where !
  8. I just Goggled it, it shows the placement of the filter in one of the attached photos, go see ! Its the same info that I have.
  9. I would have to dig the instruction page out, photo it and post it. Maybe I will but maybe I won't, I said it was there and it is. Google it I am sure it is there as well
  10. On CN they have a forum / section for books, ........ and is titled as such. Its down near the bottom of all their forums. Not hard to find. I wanted to point out, on here, the new 5th addition of NightWatch that can be preordered for a Sept. availability, but where. https://www.cloudynights.com/forum/97-astro-art-books-websites-other-media/
  11. I hate to say it but I think the OP's thoughts about this trip vs astro gear are flying around the room let alone a trip to ......... , lol !
  12. From the point of view of carry on, as per the OP, what does all that mean ? All that I am trying to say is that an AZ5 is not a carry on for a lite telescope, I believe the OP mentined they owned an AZ5.
  13. I don't want to save weight, I have 2 Porta II's for that. I want solid and the AZ5 is solid but not to put on a plane, lol !
  14. With my 3 wedges, 2 , 1.25" Lunts and a 2" Altair Astro as part of the instructions they show a diagram of all the workings and how the polarizer works. Just lucky I guess.
  15. As with other astro forums why doesn't this one have a section for books and other related astro material, etc ? Did I miss it ?
  16. Usually if you read instructions, look at diagrams they will identify the filters and how they are adjusted while on the scope ! They work perfectly, as dim as you want / need.
  17. The thread started out, I thought, about lite weight gear that could be carried on air flights as carry on ! Now its progressed to some pretty heavy (AZ5) gear that can't be stored other than in a hold of a plane. Maybe i'm wrong, I have misread something ?
  18. I weighed mine several times on a quality scale, complete it weighed about 21 lb ! Thats with the heavy stainless steel legs.
  19. A terrible statement but it may work, lol !
  20. So what are you going to get for a decent price that is more solid than the AZ5 ? I put my 20lb+ 127mm refractor on it with no problem, I mean if you go to real high powers, you get what you deserve, lol. That AZ5 weighs 20+ lbs.
  21. That AZ5 is a pretty solid mount if it can't handle your scope it would be hard to believe !
  22. If they are bad enough like my right eye, across the board, it is like looking through a spider web. I could still view but the details are compromised and lacking. With my left they are perfect right down to fine details , I am a dso viewer 95% of the time. I thank my Lucky Stars every nite out, lol !
  23. Well said ! No one can tell what the expanding future holds. Not even we rubbish collectors, lol !
  24. I joined the SeeStar users group on FB to hopefully keep up with the future talk !
