  1. Svbony in the mid 2000's made various optical components for a variety of named companys while under the VITE name, from their factory(s), then in or about 2016-2017 they expanded or broadened into selling all sorts of optical gear from telescopes, rifle scopes, spotting scopes, microscopes, eyepieces, astro cameras, filters etc.,etc. under the name Svbony to this day and are becoming more and more highly regarded with each passing clear viewing nite. I won't speculate as to how many other companies they may own / part own. I am just another fellow astronomer, I don't deal in anything about anything about anyone but I do know I own a lot of their products up through the years, my experience is broad and everytime I use something of theirs its solid ! The only item that I wasn't happy with was a 1.25" diagonal with the red sides, a fair number of years ago. Thats my story and I'm stickin' to it ! PS : Please go with your own thoughts, your own intuition don't go with anything I have said to make your astronomy decisions ! Astronomy is supposed to be a great hobby, a fun pastime, there should be no room for .......... even from .........
  2. You aren't bad at all, hopefully you never get to the stage of my right, dominant eye. But as I mentioned somewhere above my left eye is perfectly clear so I switched to using it.
  3. And for your additional info they are growing larger by the week ! Keep it in mind, if you will !
  4. You have accused me of that before on CN, its a good job I am not one to take offence of your blather, every time I point out, from experience, something you don't like. That might show your character / what you might be made of, I don't make it a point to question anyones integrity including a fellow astronomer ? My extensive research into that great company is quite different from yours as we can all tell. Many great fellow astronomers on both sides of the ocean will vouch for that. PS: And you have never shown definite proof to refute my findings ! There is only one God !
  5. If I did much lunar / planetary viewing I would own a 3-8 myself !
  6. Thats why I have several, every once and a while I take them out both at nite or day or solar and put them up against each other. Its all part of my enjoyment, lol ! PS: I got rid of my Baader Hyperion zoom, my older but well thought of Meade 4000's (2) and my new Orion 7-21 zoom, they were gathering dust, lol.
  7. Why don't you contact them and ask, they have their own factory, they have been around for more than a dozen years under the brand name VITE until about 2017 I believe. How do you actually know they are a rebrander, I have asked many times to see definite evidence, rather maybe a manufacturer for other big names. I have 4 of their zooms and each performs differently ! As they say on the tv ' the Price Is Right ', everything they sell is quality, even their starting gear. Give them a call, drop them a line, you will get a response !
  8. Do a little research, they are more, much more than a rebranding outlet like many of the brand namers ! A pretty diverse optical supplier of everything thats quality, read between the same old lines that you read, constantly. And they aren't done yet ! Some of the old tried and ........ had better watch their back, in this industry, lol.
  9. Mine is all set up with the latest soft / firmware, I mounted it on a tall photo tripod, ready for the first clear nite, maybe tomorrow. Works well on daytime shots. This thing is solidly built, its not a cheaply made piece of gear.
  10. I wouldn't call 42-65° too shabby compared to many, many other excellent priced zooms when comparing fields of view and not that far behind the much higher priced Baader.
  11. It has a wider field of view , 42-65°, than many ! Mine has excellent performance of the 8-9 I have owned at a third the price of the Baader, which I had and sold.
  12. And I was a bit lazy, I mounted my 14-15 lb NP101 on my Porta II because it was already out in my shed, rather than my AZ5 but the Porta handled the weight very well.
  13. Actually for three nites in a row this week the skies were average to above average with some haziness, borderline between Bortle 4-5, SQM-L 19.8 - 20.65 at about 10:30 to 12:30. Each night I used a different scope in order, my Vixen SS62, f8.4, then my Svbony 48P 90mm, f5.5 and then my NP101, f5.4 . I concentrated mainly on M3, M13 and M92 and the views were excellent, I tried to locate M80 / 81 but with no luck this time around. Things are looking up ! PS: I used various eps from my 21mm Celestron Ultima Edge down to my 9mm Baader Morpheus and several in between.
  14. I just recieved my D II, it did not come with a charging cable. Right ? So I assume I just use a cable with a C connector on one end and a usb on the other to plug in for charging, right ?
  15. I will surely stay away from that ?'ion, lol ! You will have to talk about that with the views on any average nite.
  16. LOL ! I am just going to stay with my NP101, its enough and its not packable / gng. But I have several that are when need be. PS: Not trying to down play a Tak scope !
  17. I wonder if they set their exorbitant prices by the lb, the weight not two or three times better performance ?? I have often wondered that !
  18. 120 is not 5" and carbon doesn't reduce weight by that much considering the extra cost. We can't have it all ! I had an ST 120 it's a different scope. Good Luck !
  19. Hopefully by now the OP gets the idea about a super lite but stable 5" combination ! GnG won't happen unless you are Hurcules, lol !
  20. What combined weight of 5.5 kg ( 11 lb ), I must have missed the combo, what scope ? Your definition of grab n go must be a lot different than mosts ?
  21. I didn't realize the OP has unlimited cash for some of these mounts being mentioned ! My apologies.
  22. At low powers probably but at higher powers when you really want to make the 130 or higher scope zing, I don't think so unless you don't mind waiting for the shaking to subside. This is from my personal, actual experiences, I hate to underestimate the actuality to a fellow astronomer. A 130 or larger is / are a big heavy scope ! My Porta II 's don't cut it and my AZ5 with the 1 3/4-2" ss legs is okay, when it gets in to those size refractors an AZ mount at a decent price are hard to find !
  23. You won't be able to lift more than 10 lb. for about 3-4 months after that the sky will be the limit or your muscle strength. There is no cool down, basically, in a refractor in comparison to the other types of scopes.
  24. That photo is 19 yrs. ago as we age our muscle mass is not quite the same, when it comes to even 40+ lbs of weight, the enjoyment will / does change and I am not a weak guy. If the OP is over 50 lets say, as with looking through scopes at club meetings, they should try lugging some of these larger scopes back and forth to get a feel. They aren't lite when you are stumbling around in the dark, lol ! PS: There are no lite, capable scopes 5" or over, just ask the mounts, lol !
