It's a OOUK VX10L and it's brand new so I sincerely hope the spider is properly located. I'm fairly certain that the focuser is in the correct position. There doesn't appear to be any way to move the focuser base plate. I've removed the secondary and put 4 plastic discs between the screws and base of the secondary holder. They are now holding the secondary in a far better position although there is now precious little movement available in the 3 screws.

As you can see in the first photo, the secondary is as near as damn it, in the correct position. Problem is, as you can see from the second photo, the secondary adjustment screws are nowhere near long enough. Would the addition of 2 or 3 plastic discs from a milk carton fill the gap sufficiently or will I require longer screws ? The scope is brand new and as yet I haven't used it, thanks to our wonderful British weather, so I'm rather concerned at this issue. What are your thoughts please ?

The only method I use with a laser is when it is Barlowed. Colli cap, specifically Blackcat XL, is more than sufficient for secondary collimation. I haven't found a laser out the box yet that 'does what it says on the tin' Al

Hi Rich Ok, so first impressions are as follows. Dob Base - The dob base is powder coated metal and while very rigid, is in fact remarkably light and can be carried with one hand. Personally I wouldn't carry with one hand but it's light enough to do so. Its azimuth movement is relatively free while still providing enough 'stiction' as to not be moved by wind. I opted for the friction brake for the ota which works very well. OTA - Made from rolled aluminum and very light so very easy to carry. The OTA comes with end caps for both top and bottom of tube. I found these to be rather loose fitting but once around the diameter with some black electrical tape and they're a snug fit. Focuser is low profile and solid with, as far as I can make out, no slop whatsoever. The 2" - 1.25" adapter is rather stiff to remove but may become easier in cold weather (I was indoors and had been for quite some time). Primary cell is extremely well made, in my opinion, with built in fan. Collimation screws are chunky enough for even the largest, coldest fingers and the springs appear to be substantial so I doubt they'll require uprating. I had to wait 9 weeks for it to be built and as of yet, it has still to see first light. I'll put a report in the observing section when I manage to get out. Feel free to ask any other questions. I couldn't agree more Gav. Lucksall is a beautiful park in every sense but, the river can flood the park and don't forget the mist it can produce. Also, since Hereford has installed a fair amount of white light as opposed to orange, the white dome is rather annoying. Just my opinion of course. I will most certainly still attend the annual SGLSP no matter where it is held.

The postman didn't bring it, I collected it. Having recently sold my Lukehurst dob due to it being too heavy and frankly, not being used. I am now the proud owner of an OOUK 10" F6.3 1/10th dob. It is so much lighter and will most definitely be used considerably more than the DL did. Hopefully first light will be SGLSP next weekend, fingers crossed.

I'm be bringing my new 10" OOUK F6.3 dob..... Oh, and Jaffas, Jamesons, Thatchers etc.

No John, no corrector. That's precisely the reason I went for F/6.3 + I'm over 6' tall.

Currently I have the following EPs. ES 14 82°, ES 24 68°, BCO 10mm. 2x Barlow. I've just placed an order for an F6.3 10" dob. Unfortunately the Lukehurst had to go due to weight. I'm reckoning I should be looking at a 82° or 100° ES (or similar) around the 30mm FL. Should I sell any of my current EPs ? What would you marvelous folks suggest ? Budget around £500. Al
