  1. All good things come to those who wait. Today I received a vintage illuminator for our Nikon Stereo Microscope. Been looking for one made for our model for a couple of years now.
  2. I hate to see people get ripped off (£,$,etc.) for something so simple as a socket head cap screw with a plastic top worth pennies each. .
  3. I received a delivery from ebay of a couple of articulated clamps. One is a perfect accessory for mounting one of my spotting scopes to a table, door, pipe, hand railing, or whatever. Edit: Even the colour and wrinkle paint finish match.
  4. An Ironing Chair works for me with our Refractors, and a Drummer's throne for other scopes. I purchased each of these for less than £10.oo in Charity shop's. .
  5. Rarely need to do any jobs. I'm just a Visual Observer with uncomplicated equipment.
  6. Sorry to here about this. I would agree with F15 Rules & Doc. The tripod and mount are desirable even if the optics are not. Of course, it all depends on what your investment was. Also, you could check with APM Telescopes who are usually the go to source for Zeiss telescopes and accessories. I have often seen them sell Zeiss objective's in "other " tubes. Perhaps they have a Telementor objective, or would be interested in what parts you might have available ?
  7. The optics are what counts. Early days yet, but as you search for Telementor accessories, consider looking for a 10mm Ortho for your set. I've found the 10mm to be my most used eyepiece.
  8. Nice acquisition ! Looks to be in good shape. Those of us who have Telementors consider them lifetime keepers, It just doesn't get any better for a 60mm class scope. The build quality is superb as I'm sure you've found out, and the Mount serves double duty equally well in equatorial or Alt-Az configuration. What eyepieces did you receive with the scope ?
  9. I noticed variations offered by vendors. There were one piece designs where the shoe was cast integral with the ring, and two piece designs where the shoe was screwed to the ring. I chose the two piece design as the shoe can be reversed to allow the clamp screw to be mounted either side if desired. The two piece design I chose also had a through hole in the shoe, so a captive screw could be used for attachment, whereas the one piece design, based on the vendor's photos, looked to have a shallow blind hole in the shoe for attachment; features worth considering.
  10. About 1mm on my Telementor-2 optical tube. The aluminium clamp and base is nicely made.
  11. Today I received a Tripod Mount Collar Ring for a Canon camera lens, but purchased it for actual use on my Telementor refractor, as an auxiliary finder mount. For years I have been trying to acquire a Zeiss Finder and have had no luck, saw this on another Astro site and ordered one. The colour and paint finish closely matched my optical tube, and the clamping band does not block the peep sight finder. The nominal internal ring diameter is 80mm, so should work for optical tubes of this size. The ring fits snug on our T-1 Model and slightly loose on the T-2 Model, but that's easily remedied by using a thicker piece of felt. This would be a useful accessory for Telementor / Telemator owners who don't have an optical finder and would like to adapt one to their scope. Its economically priced and nicely made. If anyone is interested, the Ebay details for the one I purchased are...……… " Tripod Mount Collar Ring for Canon C (WII), EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM " .

Hello, and welcome from across the pond.
  16. Welcome from another Valleys resident.
  17. Hello and Welcome from me too. This is a great forum and I've met so good folks here. I lived in Los Angeles from the 1950's through the mid 1980's and was the construction superintendent for installation of the piers and small building housing the Interferometer on Mt. Wilson. I remember a detail on the plans showing the instrument, and noticed the entrance door specified on the building appeared too small for clearance, so I brought it to the attention of the user and he said "we can turn the instrument on its side and carry it through". I asked to see the instrument which was on site in another building, and it was mounted on about a 4' x 8' x 5" thick slab of alloy, which I'm confident weighed about a couple of tons; so a couple of guys were not going to be able to lift it and carry it through, lol. Thought you might appreciate this bit of trivial information.
  18. So is everything else because of import tax and shipping.
  19. This is the book you are looking for................." Discover The Moon ". Night by night, 14 guided observing sessions based on the Moon's phases showing the most interesting lunar features. The left hand pages show the view as seen through refracting or catadioptric telescopes, and the right hand pages shows what the views look like through a newtonion or dob scope. Edit: ISBN 0 521 53555 7 142 Pages.
  20. Google > " McMastar Carr " . Their industrial catalogue has just about anything you can think of, and then some.
  21. Acquired a bit of Unobtainium ! A bespoke Hybrid Quick Change Adapter, for our Zeiss Telementor.
  22. For me it couldn't be one object, it would be to view the entire sky from the Island of Tristan Da Cunha in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean; possibly the darkest sky location on the planet.
  23. Found a lost photo of my Sears 6339-A , which is at the North entrance of my barn overseas one night. Its now here Wales, being cared for by a good friend. 🙂 .
  24. Hello, and Welcome to the forum from across the pond ! Nice photos.
