  1. One Shot Colour. Basically a colour camera rather than a mono one. HTH (hope that helps)
  2. Just finished a mammoth session imaging. It's now 01:35 and I'm off to my bed! :)

  3. Hi John, That's good, especially for manual tracking & a web cam. Much better than my first attempt! I hope you don't mind, I had a go at your image with PhotoShop CS4. The Blue layer was pretty bad so I duplicated the Green layer and substituted it for the Blue. I then did a bit of curves on the separate RGB channels and got this: Clear skies! Bryan

Taken through my Travelscope 70 piggybacked on my C8 on a CGEM mount with my 1100D Canon - modified. Exposures were between 30" and 120". Software: DSS, PS7

  5. Hmm, not bad. With images like that it is going to be harder and harder for agencies to justify the billions it costs to launch space telescopes like Hubble! I never knew there was so much nebulosity around Orion. I take my hat off to your dedication and skill. Well done Tom & Olly.

9 shot manual stack in PS7 of the Ring Nebula - M57 - in Lyre. Subs were limited to 30" due to dec drifting badly even with guiding so ISO had to be turned up to max - 6400 Imaging: C8 XLT, CG-5 GT, Revelation Superfocus 2" R&P focuser, Canon 1100D (unmodified), 1.25" UHC filter. Guiding: Travelscope 70, Orion StarShoot AutoGuider, PHD. (something not working properly here as dec drifting very badly!)

  13. Thanks for that Erguy! That looks like a neat way of getting the result I am after. As the weather isn't that great still (haven't been able to get out and obtain any more data) I may as well play around a bit more with this image. I will give it another stretch and see what I can come up with.

This is my first play with Photoshops 'Layer' command. An original single frame capture was copied to a new layer above my stacked and manipulated image. I then used the history eraser tool to remove the area around the trapezium to show the adjusted layer below but kept the original brightness of the trapezium stars from the single frame layer - if that makes sense?!? That way I can show more of the nebulasity but have kept the trapezium stars from burning out.

    cool

Nice level of detail. Was this with your 10" reflector? Is the light spot to the right of the planet one of the moons, or is it a light patch in the southern cloud belt?
