  1. That's lovely and crisp, even zoomed right in. Very nice!
  2. That's beautiful Wim! The detail & sharpness you have achieved is wonderful to see. I love the colour in ic 2209.
  3. If the adapter screws INTO the 'scope, then I would cool the adapter. You want it to shrink away from the 'scope tube; not expand into it. If it screws ONTO the tube then indeed heat it to expand it away from the tube. The trick is keeping the other side of the joint at a temperature opposite to the piece you are affecting directly. So heat one side and cool the other.
  4. Yes, that makes sense. Shame though that they couldn't recover the boosters somehow. Still, at least they're not causing even more orbital debris!
  5. Yes I was surprised to hear that it was a throw away rocket! Mind you, the waste that we are seeing over here is awful! The aircon running in shops and restaurants with the doors open or just massive openings at the entrances, like Rainforest Café etc is such a waste of energy.
  6. This is the Space X Falcon Heavy launching with the ViaSat-3 Americas satellite as seen from Disney's EPCOT theme park. We were at Kennedy Space Centre four days earlier when it was originally planned to launch. This was scrubbed however due to a heavy thunderstorm and tornado warning which forced us to take shelter at Kennedy until the danger had passed. The second attempt was scrubbed too, but in the age old tradition; third time lucky.
  7. Lovely detail in 2742! The bright star nearby has been controlled very well too.
  8. That's a good start Nigella. Looks like the green channel could be lowered a bit, but there's some good detail. I get that double edge on part of my planetary disks too. I'm not sure what causes it, or how to correct it?
  9. Well done! It's the unofficial motto of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (R.E.M.E.); Improvise, Adapt and Overcome.
  10. Wow! What an amazing amount of activity you've managed to capture. Lovely sharp images.
  11. Went to this event a few years ago. It's a great place to take children as there is so much for them to see and do. Will try and get there again this year.
  12. You can ask to have a shade fitted. Most councils are quite willing to help, especially if you mention your hobby and all the work you have done to enable you to enjoy it. Good luck.
  13. Hi, I had the same problem when I updated - Win10 pro 64. I can't remember exactly how I resolved it. There is a folder somewhere with the files for the dummy camera - Mars, Jupiter, Saturn etc. I'm not sure if the files are corrupted or the wrong type. I know I played around a bit and got it working. You can even use your own files from an imaging session if you want something a little more realistic. Sorry I can't be more help. I'll have a look at the program tomorrow evening and see if I can remember what I did, if nobody comes back with an answer before then.
  14. Thanks Scotty, I've at least got the main release back. I tried uninstalling the program thinking I had kept a copy of the installation files, only to find out that I hadn't! None of the downloads are working on the site, not even the x86 downloads! It still won't do the beta update, but I can live with that and hopefully the file server will be up again soon.
  15. Thanks. I have tried starting & restarting a number of times but it still doesn't work. The fact that none of the download buttons on the N.I.N.A. website work either is concerning me somewhat. I may just have to wait for the BETA009 update and try again then. In the meantime thanks again for your suggestion. 🙂
  16. Hi, is anyone else having trouble updating N.I.N.A. to the BETA008 version? When I click on the update notification in the title bar, the update window opens, but apart from the title bar and the Download button the rest of the pop-up window is blank white! When I can click on the Download button, an 'X' appears in the button and then after a few seconds it changes back to 'Download' and nothing happens! I have tried to download from the N.I.N.A. website but nothing happens when I click the download button there. I have also done a repair in the programs options in windows, but that didn't sort it out. If I completely uninstall N.I.N.A. Will I loose all my saved sequences? If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I would be grateful.
  17. Gibbus Moon whilst leaving Chania, Crete aboard P&O MV Azura. Samsung Galaxy S8, handheld, 4x3 @ 12mp. F1.7; 1/1592 s; 4.2 mm; ISO 40.
  18. Lovely sharp images there Roy, especially for the low elevation. We're cruising in the Med at the moment and the Moon is so high! I can even see the whole of the Scorpius constellation, just. You loose the lower stars in the horizon haze but it's all there.
  19. Some really nice Sunspots there. Lovely & sharp, even zoomed right in.
  20. It was definitely worth it! Something SOHO could be proud of. Well done!
  21. That's really nice Neil. Even zoomed right in they still stands up well.
  22. Wow! You must have a real fast set-up routine. I could just about get my mount outside and put the counterweight bar and maybe the counterweights on in six minutes! 🤪 Nice grab BTW. I made the mistake of telling my wife that I was going to set up and do some solar imaging today whilst I finished off the decking and that I might leave my 'scope up and do some imaging tonight. Needless to say 'THEY' must have heard me and it's been pretty much 100% cloud cover here today and it's not getting any better any time soon!
  23. I'm not saying it's the case here, but I think there is going to be a lot of profiteering from the Covid pandemic. You could see it during 2020 & 21, when companies used it as an excuse to lower their standards, response times and service.
  24. As I've not been able to get out at all this holiday I decided to reduce the weight of the cooler. I also wasn't happy with how far the CPU cooler extended out from the back of the camera. I saw this cooler shortly after I finished the original and decided then to modify the unit. The unit now looks like this: For comparison, the original CPU cooler weighed 627g; the new one weighs only 239g. So it's nearly two thirds lighter.
