  1. I tend to go for double and multiple stars with clusters thrown in. But I will add planets and other objects "comets" for one when they are about. I then make a list in pen of what I want to view then take the list and a pencil out and write little notes I.e eyepiece I used colour of the stars anything of interest in a few words. I then transfer them into a yearly journal and write a report up on here for others to read. I have various books "Cambridge double star atlas, Sissy Haas double stars for small telescopes and a book on clusters and nebulas. Just to add I usually pick one or two constellations in favourable positions that night.
  2. I don't know Mark when I centre it and then use it I get everything in my scope, put it away and I do that carefully but the next time out it's moved and having two lots of screws front and back it is tricky to line it up. I have removed it and reseated it to no avail and cannot see any slop it's very strange.
  3. I dont get on with my Tal finder on my Tal 100rs its always out and a nightmare get centered.

  10. I've had several clear nights but unfortunately my health has been too bad to enjoy them, hopefully February will give me some more clear nights that I can enjoy been much too long since I was last out.
  11. Cloudy all day here now high winds and torrential rain I can only cross my fingers for tomorrow.
  12. If the central screw is tight you will have to back off slightly the three collimation screws usual 2mm allen head bolts
  13. The dot is dead centre now and I think the secondary looks like it does need moving but as said point it at a white wall.
  14. Needs to be a circle within a circle. In this picture you can see the black dot is a tad out.
  15. The black dot needs to be dead centre its a tad out just adjust your primary a bit. I recommend a Cheshire/ Sight tube. On a second close up look it looks like the secondary needs moving just a bit down the tube.
  16. Make your own very easy especially the ladder type. http://www.deepskywatch.com/Articles/newtonian-dew-heater.html

    Hello!

    A warm welcome to SGL
  18. My brother my best friend and myself used to do a lot of wild camping all over Snowdonia before climbing a mountain the next day, The times spent lying down on the ground especially river banks (The river kept the cans cold) looking up and spotting all the constellations the bright stars talking amongst ourselves, we bet there was someone out there doing exactly the same and looking at our Sun in a constellation they have. we wondered what kind of life it is whether they are more or less advanced than us, knowing how indescribable the universes limitless nature is. We would spend hours just looking at the beauty of the night sky, the next morning bag our tins up make sure the fire was out cover it up and the start another journey looking at the beauty of our world or part of while climbing/walking up a mountain.
  19. Just to resurrect this two questions Garry does the mount seem stable with that scope on as I read someone had a 127mm on it and it wasn't stable. Question two would I be able to use my eq6 tripod with EQ5 pier extension as that has a removable North pin. Would this give my 127mm clearence from the tripod legs thanks. Ade after having this a couple of years now how are you finding it. Paul
