  1. Thatโ€™s the problem in a nutshell with a big scope. Needs a big mount as well. If youโ€™re rich an APM GE 300 mount will handle a sizable scope.
  2. Very common problem with most phones is the default power saving settings shutting down WIFi connections. Wish they would just have an โ€œAways Onโ€ option for any app to make it simple.
  3. Wall to wall thin cloud and nothing visable except the moon. However good enough to adjust the finder and look at the moon through the thin cloud. Being a full moon didnโ€™t matter too much about the cloud. Surprisingly sharp image given the thin cloud. More first cloud than first light. ๐Ÿ˜ The bearing movement Good. Firm enough to stay where itโ€™s put but easy to move with with no sign of sticktion. Had to use the drawtube extension with any eyepiece but as itโ€™s a solid screw on extension no problem with sagging etc. Quite a tall setup though. Infocus is never going to be a problem. ๐Ÿ™‚
  4. The flocked lining now fitted. Nice and dark in there now. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Surprisingly when put back together it was only slightly out of collimation. ๐Ÿ™€
  5. Could have been damaged in shipping but Iโ€™ve found that Opticstar has great customer service so it will get sorted out. I once sold a scope that Iโ€™d originally bought from Opticstar and the buyer found that the finder, that Iโ€™d never even used, was defective and Opticstar replaced it free of charge for the buyer. Top service. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  6. Iโ€™ve had both the 80mm and 90mm Opticstar achros and both have had very good sharp optics and stars were pinpoint. It does sound like you are way out of focus and seeing an airy disk.As you move the focuser from one end of focus travel the large airy disk should shrink until you get a pin point star then as you continue to move the focuser another airy disk should start to appear and get bigger.
  7. Thanks forthe opinions. Has helped me make up my mind. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  8. Wonder just how much better the Morpheous 4.5mm would be than an. Explore Scientific 82ยฐ4.7mm in an f5 dob?
  9. Thanks for the input. Some thinking to do yet. ๐Ÿค”
  10. CN does have itโ€™s share of biased opinions but also some genuine opinions and after wading through the lot and ignoring the rubbish I am coming to the conclusion that the 4.5 is indeed an excellent planetary eyepiece and a bit of EOFB is not a problem for planetary use anyway. Hmmm......ยฃ149.00 at Astroshop. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”
  11. Has no one ever used the 4.5mm Morpheus ?
  12. All depends on what you are looking at. I find a neodymium (moon and skyglow) filter is the best general purpose filter for lunar / planetary.
  13. Have been thinking abput getting one of the Baader Morpheus 76ยฐ 4.5mm eyepieces as my high power eyepiece (for lunar / planetary) use in my Bresser 10โ€ f5 dob. Have found reviews for the longer focal lengths but not much on the 4.5mm.
  14. Could be a good idea to get something like a Bresser 8โ€ dob. A very well specced dob with proper alt bearings etc. But as it uses tube rings easy to remove the alt bearings and bolt on a dovetail bar so it could be mounted on an EQ mount kater on. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/bresser-telescopes/bresser-messier-8-dobsonian-telescope.html
  15. Looks like youโ€™ll have to try the following from their help page. If all else fails, copy and paste the following text and questions into an email. 16. You can change your email address if you ask Photobucket according to their help page.
  17. Maybe acetate sheet doesnโ€™t make such good flocking. ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Acetate liner made for the tube. Now to pull it out and apply the FLO flocking material and slide it back in place.
  18. You could try Photobuckets email or username recovery. They say accountโ€™s not accessed for a couple of years may be deactivated and will have to be reactivated. https://support.photobucket.com/hc/en-us/articles/200724204-I-Can-t-Access-the-Email-Address-I-Signed-Up-With
  19. Just Login to your Photobucket account and choose the photo and then choose download from the drop down menu on the right and then save the photo.
  20. Have you read this? http://www.astro-baby.com/articles/beginners guide to buying a telescope/so you want to buy a telescope.htm
  21. I usually fit a carry hande to a dob. WDS Ltd ia good source of handles. I also fit a small handle near the focuser to make it easier to move the scope. http://www.wdsltd.co.uk/categories/70/handles/ This one is very good. http://www.wdsltd.co.uk/product/3844/tubed-handle-front-mounted-black-wds-8517/ Some of the dobs I have fitted handles to. ๐Ÿ™‚
  22. Two of the arms looked a little bit cocked but a tap with a screwdriver and they popped back level and all the tips seem to contact the mirror. Could have been shaken about during transport. ๐Ÿค”
  23. Getting ready to flock the dob. A few pics of the removed parts. The secondary holder is matt black and the sides of the morror have been blacked as well. You can just see the 9 point primary mirror supports.
