The offset (d) moves slightly when you adjust the altitude setting on the 120 but this movement will be pretty small. Dave's suggested RA position is the one that I would also suggest for this mount BUT as mentioned previously, on a friend's mount this didn't work correctly BUT there could have been other issues in play. This would be a good start point for you. With regard to POTH, it is very easy to use and has been a saviour for many people in the past who have had issues with controlling software as it just works - if you need any help with the POTH settings once you reach that stage, just shout!

NGC 6888 (Crescent Nebula) responds very well to bicolour imaging using Ha and OIII so that would be a good test of the new filter.

I am a great fan of HOO and I suspect that you will find it an interesting way to image. Your first (green) image colours are typical of those of 'original' Hubble palette images and many astronomers manipulate the colouring to produce what is generally termed the 'gold and turquoise' palette which many feel is more attractive. One of the great things about 'false colour' narrowband imaging is that anything goes, there is no correct way!

Doh! The type of CC was in your first post 👀 I used one of these to very good effect in my F4.8 Newtonian so you should be getting better results than currently.

Unfortunately, you are right about the coma corrector. Which one are you using? Normally you would expect the spacing from the mounting face at the rear of the corrector to the sensor itself to be 55.0mm +- 1mm. With regard to the image itself, you have some great data with some good detail in the OIII regions which give the Crescent the appearance of a 'plasma' halo.

Thank you all for your very useful input, as usual, SGL members with their wide range of knowledge have come up trumps! Because of the dodgy licensing involved here (not VB's fault!) my son has decided to go mainstream and has started a one month trial on a proper paid for database service which he has already found invaluable. Sadly, he is about to lose his 'dream job' at McLaren as the management decimate the development team in favour of F1 so, he has the skills, he now has the database and, separately, the scan tool so all he needs now are the customers! Thanks all.

Sorry, I have only just seen this! I'd love to give you a definitive answer on this but recent experience with a friend's 120 have proven to be very inclusive. It shouldn't be that difficult but for some reason, we have yet to get the system to sync the mount and dome together correctly. Now, it could be that there is an issue elsewhere in the system as his dome has never synced as well as my own but he's certainly having issues with the 120 now. If it gets resolved, I will post up the solution here.

Yes, I alluded to this above - does a 'virtual image' get round this or is the vendor only giving part of the story and an OS for use within Virtualbox is still required? This from the website is now ringing alarm bells as I suspect that as well as the OS running natively on the PC, he will indeed require another copy of Windows, MAC or Linux!! Big hole in my knowledge here, if it runs in Windows within Virtualbox why on Earth doesn't it just run in Windows??:- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Before you start, make sure your PC meets minimum system requirements: Any Operating System with Virtualbox installed Windows, MAC, Linux Memory (RAM): 1 GB or above. Hard Disk Space: 40gb free hdd space.
