This arrived today from Ian King almost two weeks earlier than anticipated. Ian was great via email and over the phone.

Im using 1.25" Baader HaLRGB filters, although ill be focusing with Ha as I have the ZS71 at present.

I have attached the Lodestare via the C mount.

Ill be balancing all these goodies on the scope and sorting out the scopes Home and that will be about all with this cloud.

looks good - glad to hear that yours came early. Maybe my order with Ian will too

Where did you get the cable relief gadget for the Lodestar??. Could do with one for mine.  Don't like the connector on the guide cam - always afraid that i will break a wire.

The adapter is from Teleskop Service, really does solve the connector issue nice and easily.

Im just making my bias library now, all looking good and saving to my Nas to.

Santa's come early for Earl

Seriously if I had the cash that is definately the ccd I would have. It's had cracking

reviews and I've not heard a bad thing about them. Well... except the price.

But quality is never cheap. The ZS71ED is well suited for Ha, gathered some quality subs with

mine, f4.72 helps

Await the first light.......

cheers

Steve

Hi Earl,

I bought the same camera (8 position) a couple of months after you. Feb 14. Basically set up the same as well. I made a strain relief out of an old water fitment. I'd be interested to know how you are getting on with it.  I have also the 583wsg bought some 4/5 years ago. That is why I went for the 683, because I liked it so much. I had a few  new adapters made up here in the North East so that I could fit an Adaptive Optics unit. (the A.O unit fouled the Loadstar without the adjustments). There was a bit more to it than that but that's another story.

I really like the quality of the camera. How about you, now that you had some time with it?

since i got it i now use it on a fsq 106, it works great, one of the cooling fans is a bit noisey but thats normal for small fans i have found.

I upgraded it to the 8 posistion wheel also.

i have a few projects on the go imaging wise but the weather is really not helping.

The fans are fairly cheep to replace. I always use ball bearing replacements on computers so if my fans on the QSI go I will do the same. Nice  scope the FSQ106, been thinking about it. But "Err indoors" will have to be placated!!

Mine came just before Christmas and very impressed with the build quality.  Also if you register the camera on the QSI website, it looks like they will ship a personalised  Pelican Case label. Its a little thing but just a nice finishing touch :-)

The 583 came with the offer of a personalised name plate. (A few years ago). It took several months for the plate to arrive so if you send off for it don't hold your breath! The 683 did not have the same offer on with it.
