1st Light with 314L+ - M3 Luminance *Unguided*

I thought i'll have a bash at this ccd mullarky, i spent last night just mucking around with my Celestron CGEM mount, but could not resist the temptation of playing around with my new camera & filterwheel.

Just to have to remember these cameras are lot more sensitive then DSLR's.

Took 25x 30secs shots in Luminance, no bias, flats or darks.

BTW what temps do you set your cameras in the Atik Software ? As I had it set to -5c.

I have mine set to -25. They are cracking little cameras.

you got it then ....great first light nadeem....i would also say -25c, in the winter you should be able to go much colder

That's a great picture - clear detail in the core with a star field that got lots of variation that makes it look like a spherical mass.

Good first light Nadeem youre going to get a lot of joy from that camera. And the setpoint cooling of the 314L+ is a godsend on these warmer nights.

I set mine at -10

Would it be beneficial to reduce temps further, I think the 314 can only go about 25 below ambient so in warmer nights it may struggle to get lower, or am I mistaken?

Nice image of M3, some depth is definitely evident.

Hi Nadeem - I aspire to owning one of these - The DSLR horizontal noise banding is doing my head in now it's getting warmer and I can't believe that there's no calibration frames at all in this - I want one!!!
