Moon and Jupiter

Recommended Posts

Tonight was my first attempt at taking pictures of the night sky. I think this is the best of them (assuming my first attempt at posting a photo works...)

Thanks, all, for the kind words. I wonder, could I improve the image with a bit of processing? I've posted the JPG straight from the camera, but I have saved the RAW file as well. I've never done photo processing, but I do have an (unused) copy of GIMP. Would increasing the contrast show up the planet and moon better against a darker sky? Could I bring up the unlit disk of the moon more?

All you people who know how to get the best out of your images, what would you do with that image to improve it?

Thanks,

Mary
