I would second the advice about having a look through the eyepiece before buying a scope.

Join a local Astro Soc. Most folks are more than happy to let you have a go with their scopes.

See if you can get to SGL6 Star party at Lucksall camp site next year, there's more scopes there than you can shake a stick at. We will be attending, and you are very welcome to spend time with us.

Even if you don't camp, pop over for a night, and say Hi.
