The 12 fits nicely into an average family saloon car...not sure a 16" would though... plus the 12" is a big old lift...16" would require (IMHO) being left on the mount and a trolly/roll out system

I agree Nic, I can lift the 12" OTA reasonably easily, but the 16" is going to be a LOT heavier. Also, the length of the OTA is likely to be (unextended) around 10-11"longer than the 12" OTA, assuming f4.8. So getting that across the back seat of a normal car wil be a challenge.

I suspect that the 14" will be the best one to get in terms of weight and size.
