this is lovely. one I have not yet seen as it's still hidden behind house from my garden.

it's not a criticism but what's the circular flare to the NW near the bright star? is it just an optical aberration?

You think thats bad - you should see the one I cropped out! LOL I've yet to sort that out - hav'nt a clue where its comming from.

are you using a newt? I wonder if it's the bottom/end of the focusing tube? or maybe even the bright edges of the secondary? maybe flocking the edges would help?

whatever, it's a cracking image :D

No its an 8" SCT, I stripped the image train down last night and had a look, the only way to remove the artifact was to remove the 6.3 reducer - bummer! will have to look into it a bit more.
