Hi all,

Hows about this for an ideal bit of astro kit ?

http://www.energizer.com/products/flashlights/flashlight.asp?cat=4&id=3

Red light for the astro stuff, then white light for when were packing up for checking what we've left behind

Local "Wilkinsons" stor have them in at only £7.00 inc a set of batteries, I've got mine !, cracking bit of kit.

Alan

I like that Alan

I have been looking for suitable torches for Aunty FLO but hadn't considered that one.

The one I use myself is the Astro Engineering Glo Torch:

That one is already stocked but this Gerber lantern has caught my eye:

And I am also looking into a Faraday torch (you shake it - no batteries):

They all use LEDs

.... I like torches

I'm with you on that one Steve, I have more torches than you can shake a stick at but for the rare night of cloudless sky, I use a red Pal light (like the one at http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=66058 )

It's small enough to hold in your mouth (I know; yuck) but that leaves both hands free and because it has a rubber case, it isn't too cold to the touch.

Yeah, I know. I thought I was the only one into torches as well! I once saw an 8million candle power lamp on the web but it was $1,800 so I didn't buy that one...

Anyway, I think Pal light is the brand and the maker. Try http://www.palights.com/

I got mine from e-bay for £10 although the usual price seems to be about £20. Anyway, really very bright (also has a soft light setting) and reliable.

I have a 5 million candle watt torch i always take it out on a field trip incase anything goes terribly wrong

when this baby lights up its brighter than my cars full beam.

And you can feel the heat from it from 20ft away.
