The "it" in this case isn't a horror character in a Stephen King horror movie but a clear sky in near full moon conditions although to be fair, either of them are equally scarey to me.

Yes the sky gods have deemed the whole UK is worthy of at least one cloudless night but as is inevitable he hasn't bothered to consult with the pagan moon 🌙 god.

So thankfully Jupiter will be playing ball, a bit of double hunting is better than nought and there should be a nice sharp terminator along the upper left moon.

However the moon will of course make dso hunting a visual nightmare.

Careful if you are on your own!

Yeah, a clear night but DSO imaging is pretty much no-go especially for galaxies.

I'm trying out my recently acquired Askar Colour Magic Duo-Narrowband filter Ha +OIII 6nm.  I want to see how it does against this Moon.  The subs look OK.  I'm imaging the Elephant's Trunk nebula. Two+ hours so far.  Another hour is possible before it drops too low I think.

Having said it's no good for galaxy imaging, I'm running framing check sequences on some of the HCGs that I want to image properly when the moon gets out of the way. Only 2 hours each in Luminance.

Although I’m primarily a galaxy imager I can’t ignore a moonlit clear night, so I’ve switched to Ha and NBZ filters and found a bit of hydrogen that fits my current tiny FOV setup.

I'm also taking the opportunity to try out the ASI 533 that I recently bought from FLO. Getting saturated stars, but that's OK, I'm not that interested in the stars.

600 secs Bin 1 and gain 100.

In the process of commissioning my new scope, a RASA 11, so, indeed, trying to make the most of it.

Having had a nightmare getting the Celestron focus motor to work when pointing towards the zenith (worked perfectly when more horizontal) I now need to climb the collimation / tilt / backfocus hill.

However, couldn't do all that this evening, so with everything wrong (no pixel peeping!) and in white light (no filters at all) I had to try out briefly (very briefly) the odd galaxy and nebula...
