Are you sure about that ? The moon rose last night slightly north of north east,  (azimuth 38° ish) but not due north.

Checking in Stellarium just now, it showed that the moon was not due north when it rose, in Gemini, it was east of north.

Maybe in Iceland but not in the UK.

This is why the moon is rising waaay round to the north (for part of the lunation)

I was in Grundarfordur it was early evening after 5pm. I cant get the app to set the location and time.... Hate apps tbh always have needed features missing or have to do a funny handshake to find...

That does change things rather. Seems the Moon doesn’t even set or rise from there.

Ah right, that would explain it, I was assuming you were in Hereford. Once inside the Arctic Circle, the moon and Sun can appear in any direction depending on date and time.

It a bit disorienting when you are used to UK skies, the moon and sun both in the sky pretty much all day.
